The Los Angeles Clippers' goal of competing for an NBA title with one of the oldest teams in league history will be a tall task in a Western Conference brimming with young, up-and-coming talent.

For Los Angeles, bench depth will play a crucial role in keeping their aging duo of James Harden and Kawhi Leonard healthy and rested throughout the 2025-26 regular season.

With that being said, the Clippers were still forced to part ways with a few intriguing talents and legitimate stars at the G-League level in order to cut down their roster size prior to the Oct. 20 deadline.

"The LA Clippers have waived Patrick Baldwin Jr., Jason Preston and TyTy Washington Jr., a league source told Spotrac," Spotrac's Keith Smith shared via X on Saturday evening.

After cutting Patrick Baldwin Jr., TyTy Washington Jr. and Jason Preston, the Clippers took a significant step towards officially setting both their NBA and G-League rosters.

For Baldwin Jr., the former No. 28 overall pick by the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Draft could not carve out a spot for himself in the Clippers' rotation after only receiving six total minutes of action in two games for the team.

At the G-League level, however, he was giving the franchise's front office a chance to re-think their course of action by averaging 18.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks on a fantastic 61.0% true shooting percentage for their San Diego affiliate.

Baldwin Jr.'s numbers were surely impressive for San Diego last season, but the 23-year-old Washington Jr. did plenty to establish himself as a true rising star in the G-League.

In 21 appearances for the Valley Suns in 2024-25, Washington Jr. contributed 22.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists while knocking down a blistering 42.6% of his 6.7 attempts from three-point range.

By authoring a fantastic and unbelievably efficient campaign, it's plausible to believe that another prospective suitor will pick him up as a potential two-way contract candidate.

All of the Clippers' recent cuts were efficient shooters at the G-League level, as even the 6-foot-4 guard Preston boasts a career 41.1% shooting clip from distance and a ridiculous 62.4% true shooting percentage in 52 career games for the Ontario Clippers, Memphis Hustle and Salt Lake City Stars from 2022-2024.
