The Golden State Warriors need to explore all avenues to trade Jonathan Kuminga. Contract negotiations aren’t going well, and it seems like both sides have dug their heels into the sand. Recent Warriors rumors are saying the team is closing down trade talks for Kuminga as well.

That may all be posturing. The Warriors definitely would rather get a decent return for Kuminga than keep him. He doesn’t want to be there, and the Warriors can’t afford a locker room cancer while Stephen Curry tries to win another championship.

One potential Jonathan Kuminga trade idea would bring a former Warriors champion and fan favorite back to the Bay.

The Warriors-Kuminga trade looks like this:

Warriors receive:

  • Devin Carter (from Kings)

  • Andrew Wiggins (from Heat)

Kings receive:

  • Jonathan Kuminga (via sign-and-trade from Warriors)

  • Jaime Jaquez Jr. (from Heat)

Heat receive:

  • DeMar DeRozan (from Kings)

  • Moses Moody (from Warriors)

This is the type of trade that could satisfy everyone. The Warriors would bring back Andrew Wiggins, a player who has proven he can thrive in the Warriors' system. They’d also get Devin Carter, a young and unproven guard who has shown flashes of high defensive potential.

The problem with this Kuminga sign-and-trade is that the Warriors would need to give up Moses Moody alongside Kuminga. Before getting injured late last season, Moody was playing the best basketball of his career.

So, would getting Wiggins back be worth losing both Moody and Kuminga? Maybe. But as Moody has continued to show improvement, in the near future, he could be doing exactly what Wiggins does, but for cheaper.

So, while getting Wiggins back is extremely interesting, if the Warriors have to give up a lot to get him, it may be worth keeping their current assets.
