NBA insider links Warriors to surprise free agent targets — names revealed image

Everyone knows the Golden State Warriors are trying to make major roster improvements. They showed last season that while they are close to being a championship contender, they still need to refine their roster. Unfortunately for the Warriors, with Jonathan Kuminga’s restricted free agency and the new salary cap rules, this hasn't proven easy. That’s why when one NBA insider revealed some of the lesser-known Warriors free agent targets, the names did not excite.

When asked about the Warriors' free agency targets that the team is considering signing, NBA insider Brett Siegel revealed three names that not many had thought about.

“Trey Lyles, Malcolm Brogdon, Chris Boucher, and Gary Payton II are the secondary names I got for you here.

Jonathan Kuminga is the first domino to fall, and then the Warriors will know their financial situation to round out their roster.”

These potential Warriors free agent signings make a lot of sense. All three players are veterans, yet are still young enough to help the older Warriors shoulder the load of a long 82-game season.

These three players all have a few different key things in common. They can all play solid defense, and they all are decent three-point shooters.

The Warriors are finally learning how best to build around Stephen Curry. With defensive support and three-point shooting to create spacing, Curry is nearly impossible to stop.

So, while none of these players' names jump off the page, they are all solid fits in the Bay. Golden State should hope that at least one of them joins the Warriors’ roster this offseason.
