The Golden State Warriors have still yet to make an offseason acquisition. While the Jimmy Butler trade towards the end of last season was their big splash to make, the Warriors' roster still has multiple holes that need to be filled. Here are the top three realistic Warriors free agency targets that they need to sign as soon as possible before it’s too late.
3. Trey Lyles
Trey Lyles provides two key things that the Warriors are missing, size and shooting. While he saw his production dip last year with the Kings, he is a near 35% three-point shooter. His career average is 7.6 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. While those numbers don’t jump off of the page, the Warriors could still use a player like Lyles on their bench. Lyles is a decent defender and will help spread the floor in a congested Warriors offense.
2. Al Horford
All Warriors-Al Horford rumors indicate that the team is likely to sign him soon. There’s a reason Horford has been a top Warriors free agency target this offseason. Horford is a great stretch five to slide into the Warriors system. Horford’s high basketball IQ and championship experience would be an ideal fit with the Warriors’ veteran core. Horford might not be as good as a few years ago, but he still has some gas left in the tank.
1. Amir Coffey
The Warriors need to start pursuing players like Amir Coffey. He isn’t proven in the way a 40-year-old Al Horford is. However, he has been constantly improving during his first six years in the league and has made major contributions to a winning team. Coffey had career-highs in minutes and scoring last season for the Los Angeles Clippers. He is also an aggressive defender and 40% shooter from three.
Honorable Mention:
Jonathan Kuminga
Everyone is discussing a Jonathan Kuminga sign-and-trade for the Warriors. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like they are going to get much value back in a deal like that. So instead, they should re-sign Kuminga. He is probably a top three most talented player left in the NBA free agent market. The Warriors aren’t going to be able to get or afford any of the other top talent, so re-signing Kuminga is looking more and more intriguing.
