The Chicago Bulls have had a relatively quiet offseason amid their ongoing rebuild and contract negotiations with restricted free agent Josh Giddey. Still, they could make some noise ahead of this season's trade deadline.
While the Bulls are extremely unlikely to pursue any star players, they have valuable pieces who could help other teams on the cusp of title contention. The team already traded Lonzo Ball to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Isaac Okoro earlier this summer, and it appears Nikola Vucevic and Coby White could emerge as trade candidates on expiring contracts.
White, in particular, is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 20.4 points, 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 2.9 three-pointers and 0.9 steals across 33.1 minutes per game in 74 regular-season appearances. However, the 25-year-old is on the final year of his deal, and Chicago could look to move him before the trade deadline rather than risk losing him for nothing.
Bulls send Coby White to Timberwolves for promising young guard
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report recently proposed a trade that would give White the chance to play for a contender, while the Bulls could land their point guard of the future.
Bulls receive: Donte DiVincenzo, Rob Dillingham
Timberwolves receive: Coby White
The Timberwolves traded up to select Dillingham with the No. 8 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft, viewing him as a logical replacement for an aging Mike Conley. While that could still be the plan, White would provide an immediate spark following Nickeil Alexander-Walker's departure.

Dillingham saw consistent playing time for a brief stretch during the 2024-25 season but struggled to produce consistently. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have an opportunity to contend after back-to-back trips to the Western Conference finals and are in win-now mode. If they don't trust Dillingham to take on an increased role behind Conley, moving him for a proven scorer wouldn't be out of the question.
Sending DiVincenzo to Chicago would also give Terrence Shannon Jr. an opportunity to step up behind Anthony Edwards, and White would certainly play a large role for the Timberwolves in a title push.
For Chicago, they'd land a promising young guard and a veteran sharpshooter entering his eighth season. With Giddey's versatility and size allowing him to run the point or slide to small forward, adding another point guard could be a forward-thinking move.
