Luka Doncic vs. Mavericks beef just added a hilarious new layer image

The Dallas Mavericks shocked the NBA last season when they traded franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, and the feud just became even more entertaining.

Following the trade, Mavericks fans wasted no time voicing their disapproval toward general manager Nico Harrison, chanting “Fire Nico!” at games for the remainder of the season. Injuries to Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving only made matters worse, derailing the team's 2024-25 campaign just a year after Dallas made the NBA Finals.

Now, the organization is moving on from the Doncic era, pivoting to a core led by Davis, Irving and No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg. Still, the beef between Doncic and the franchise continues to produce hilarious new twists.

Mavericks reportedly unhappy with Luka Doncic's new billboard

Doncic recently partnered with Overwatch 2 to promote Season 18’s new Stadium Mode, but his Dallas billboard reportedly angered Mavericks ownership. According to Arash Markazi of The Sporting Tribune, team officials forced the company to relocate the advertisement, believing it was too close to the arena.

“According to sources, Mavericks ownership made them move the original location of the billboard,” he wrote. “They felt that it was too close to the arena. They weren't happy.”

Fresh off signing a three-year, $165 million extension with the Lakers, Doncic appears ready to move on from his messy and abrupt Dallas exit.

Harrison publicly cited Doncic's conditioning and lack of defensive effort as key factors for trading the superstar point guard, though he now seems to be in much better shape following a new offseason workout regimen. Doncic will now look to reach to the Finals with LeBron James and the Lakers after losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs last year.

As far as the Mavericks, the club will aim to prove it made the right decision and move forward with its retooled roster after missing the postseason in 2024-25.
