There might be one reason more than any other that the Toronto Blue Jays have a leg up on the New York Yankees in Game 3 of the ALDS:
Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s stats against Carlos Rodon.
They're absolutely insane.
Here they are:
- 10-for-17
- 4 walks
- 1 HR
- 5 RBI
- 0 K
That's right. In 21 plate appearances, Vladdy has never struck out against Rodon.
It makes sense in general that Guerrero would have success against an opposite-side pitcher, but this is otherworldly.

It's also one of those things where the sample size is definitely large enough that both players know it.
Vladdy walks to the plate against Rodon knowing that he mashes against him.
Rodon sees Vladdy step in and knows that this is a tough matchup for him.
They're both competitors and will try to do their job each time they face off Tuesday night in the Bronx, but it certainly appears the advantage rests with Guerrero.
And if he can deliver on the postseason stage yet again, it might be enough to move Toronto on and send the Yankees home.
