The New York Yankees will have several decisions to make this offseason when several of their key contributors hit the open market in search of lucrative contracts.

As for now, the Yankees are worried about the AL playoff picture, which has New York as the top Wild Card in the American League. However, New York's front office is likely thinking about the players like Luke Weaver, Cody Bellinger, and Trent Grisham that are headed towards either being an outright free agent or opting out of their current deals in search of a better contract.

Trent Grisham is one of the most interesting free agents in the 2026 class due to the monster offensive season he is having.

Trent Grisham predicted to be in Texas Rangers' 2026 Opening Day lineup

Bleacher Report recently ran a predictions piece where they looked ahead to Opening Day in 2026 and predicted each team's lineup.

For the Texas Rangers, it is Trent Grisham in the leadoff spot, and the other indication is that Texas lets outfielder Adolis Garcia walk in free agency.

Does this mean that the Yankees ultimately let Grisham go following the season? No it doesn't, but considering how well Grisham has performed this season, his pricetag has certainly gone up, and he's likely looking for a multi-year deal. The Yankees signed Grisham to a one-year, $5 million deal before the 2025 season, and that has looked like a massive steal.

In 126 games this season, Grisham has 30 home runs (a career-high by 13), 75 runs scored, and an OPS+ of 128. All three of those important statistics are all career-highs for Grisham. Grisham is known for his stellar center field defense, but now that he's figured it out with the bat in his hands, that adds several million dollars to his evaluation. New York has had one of the most productive outfielders in all of baseball in terms of power, with Grisham, Cody Bellinger, and Aaron Judge all having more than 25 home runs.

Losing Grisham would be a lot of production lost for New York, and the center field market isn't exactly filled with many players that have 30+ home runs, but the Yankees are consistently one of the top spenders in MLB, and they could re-sign Bellinger and move him to center field, or make an even bigger splash by acquiring Kyle Tucker.
