The New York Yankees avoided a sweep against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 7-3 win on Sunday on the road. Next up for the Yankees is a six-game homestand with three each against the Cleveland Guardians and Boston Red Sox.
So, while starting the month of June with a win is good news, the Yankees saw some concerning injuries take place during the game. The Yankees saw both Jasson Dominguez and Luke Weaver suffer injuries.
After the game, Aaron Boone gave an update on both, per Gary Phillips of The New York Daily News.
“We’ll see what we have when we get back,” Boone said of the injury to Dominguez. “It was enough for him to come out of the game.”
The Yankees saw Dominguez exit the game in the fifth inning after suffering a thumb contusion while stealing a base. On the other hand, Dominguez was a bit more optimistic.
“I don’t think there is much concern. We’re gonna see tomorrow how it feels, but right now there is nothing to worry about...I’m feeling better already.”
As for Weaver, Boone uttered a similar statement as the one to Dominguez: “It was enough to take him out. So we’ll see what we have when we get home.”
Weaver was all set to pitch the final inning before the Yankees trotted out Tim Hill. So, both injuries will be worth monitoring for New York before beginning their next series on Tuesday.
