The New York Mets went into Thursday's series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers with Franciso Lindor absent from the lineup.
Lindor was hit by a pitch on Wednesday, and after being absent from the lineup, he spoke to reporters prior to the game and revealed he has a broken right pinky toe, per SNY.

Lindor said he isn't sure whether he will go on the IL, but he did mention he is hoping to come back sooner then later, per Danny Abriano of SNY.
"I’m day-by-day. Hopefully, I feel good enough to play sooner rather than later. We’ll see. We’ll take it day by day. I trust the trainers, I trust how they go about it, and it will be an educated decision to play or not."
Here's the play where Lindor was hit by the pitch, although he managed to play the rest of game.

Lindor is hitting .279 with 14 home runs, 36 RBI and 42 runs scored as the Mets entered Thursday with a 39-23 record.
Luisangel Acuna is starting at shortstop for the Mets on Thursday, and they then travel to Denver to face the Colorado Rockies before returning home.
But, the status of Lindor will be one to monitor over the next few days, and there is a chance he ends up landing on the IL to heal the broken toe.
