The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking for bullpen help however they can find it.
On a day in which their bullpen is highly taxed, following a 7 1/3-inning effort on Monday night in Milwaukee, Los Angeles is turning to the minor leagues for an extra arm in their bullpen on Tuesday.
It just so happens that the minor leaguer in question was a major league All-Star only two years ago.
The Dodgers are reportedly recalling Alexis Díaz from Triple-A, just over a month after he arrived in a May 29 trade with the Cincinnati Reds. Díaz was originally demoted to the minors by the Reds in mid-April.
Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic was the first to report the news of Díaz's promotion.
In a perfect world, the Dodgers might have liked to see more success from Díaz against Triple-A competition before this promotion. He allowed five earned runs in 4 2/3 innings in the Dodgers organization over the last month, including seven walks.

However, the 2023 All-Star (and younger brother of New York Mets closer Edwin Díaz) certainly has the stuff to shut down big-league hitters when he's commanding it.
In four major league seasons, the 28-year-old Díaz owns a 3.21 ERA and 227 strikeouts in 193 1/3 innings pitched. But his productivity dipped each year after his debut in 2022, until the Reds finally stopped giving him late-inning opportunities back in April.
The Dodgers hope a return to the big leagues will help reignite Díaz's competitive fire.
