Dodgers predicted to bring $5M World Series champ back to LA at trade deadline image

Starting pitching is always at a premium at the trade deadline, and the Los Angeles Dodgers should be among the shoppers.

Once again, the Dodgers' rotation has been bitten by the injury bug in 2025. Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Roki Sasaki, and Tony Gonsolin are all on the shelf heading into the All-Star break.

Rotation reinforcements are a must, and the Dodgers may not be able to be all that choosy about who they get. In the absence of a Freddy Peralta or Seth Lugo being made available, they may have to get creative.

How about a reunion with a left-hander who excelled in Los Angeles, then went on to win himself a World Series ring in 2023 with the Texas Rangers?

In a recent short video, content creator Steven Russell predicted that the Dodgers would acquire Pittsburgh Pirates starter Andrew Heaney to bolster the rotation. Heaney is on a one-year, $5.25 million contract.

"I could definitely see Andrew Heaney being traded back to the Dodgers," Russell proclaimed.

Heaney, 34, has a 4.16 ERA in 17 starts this season, spanning 93 innings. He has 71 strikeouts, 31 walks, and an opposing batting average of .235.

In 2022, Heaney put up a 3.10 ERA and career-best 13.5 strikeouts per nine innings in 16 appearances (14 starts) with the Dodgers. But unfortunately, he succumbed to a shoulder injury that cost him most of the season's second half.

While Heaney might not be the most exciting piece the Dodgers could land, he's becoming an innings-eater in his thirties and might wind up becoming a valuable swingman in the playoffs.
