Former Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman has one of the biggest contract decisions in Major League Baseball to make this winter. With an opportunity to opt out of the final two years and $80 million he has remaining on his contract with the Red Sox, Bregman is expected to.

However, with the Red Sox in a position to make the postseason and needing to play well during the final week of the regular season, he isn't too worried about that. The Red Sox sit at 85-71, currently holding the second spot in the American League Wild Card race, three games behind the first Wild Card spot, the New York Yankees

Focusing on the postseason is something the Red Sox and Bregman have to do. Regardless of how things play out in the offseason, winning a World Series would completely change everything. It's even fair to say that if the Red Sox won a World Series, losing Bregman wouldn't be as big a deal.

What will Red Sox's Alex Bregman do?

When speaking about the situation, Bregman said he's not worried about his upcoming contract situation and he hasn't figured out what he plans to do yet. Instead, he's worried about winning games for this organization.

"You're right, it's not," Bregman told The Boston Globe's Alex Speier and NESN's Tom Caron on the "310 To Left" podcast. "I'm focused on winning games."

A reunion with the Astros would be fun, but it's far-fetched at this point.

After trading for Carlos Correa, the idea of having Jose Altuve, Bregman and Correa is certainly an enticing one, but there's a much better chance that Bregman decides to sign elsewhere if he doesn't return to Boston, even if it's on a new deal.
