The Boston Red Sox are currently struggling. They have lost five consecutive games and have fallen to 40-42 on the season.
They are now seven games back in the American League East, but because they are only 2 1/2 back in the Wild Card race, Craig Breslow has declared he wants to be a buyer rather than a seller.
If Boston wants to buy, there are plenty of areas on the roster that need work. First base is one of them with Triston Casas out for the year.
Cody Williams of FanSided proposed the idea of trading for former All-Star Josh Naylor.
"If we're talking about trade targets, he should be the No. 1 position player that Boston is targeting. Again, part of that potential hinges upon what Arizona ultimately decides to do in terms of direction at the deadline, but the overall upside of potentially adding Naylor to this lineup is hard to ignore given the year he's having," Williams writes.

The Diamondbacks have not indicated that they want to sell, but they could always make moves in both directions, which could allow the Red Sox a chance to get their hands on Naylor.
The 28-year-old first baseman is hitting .307/.363/.479 with 10 home runs, 53 RBI, 10 stolen bases and an .842 OPS. He was an All-Star last season for the Cleveland Guardians before ultimately being traded to Arizona in the offseason.
He provides power from the left side of the plate and gives Boston somebody who can play first base for the rest of the year.
The former All-Star is a free agent at the end of the season, so this would purely be a rental trade if Boston decides to go after Naylor. But he could easily give them a boost offensively.
It will be interesting to see what Boston decides to do.
