The Boston Red Sox are struggling. They have lost five consecutive games and now sit two games below the .500 mark. They are also seven games out in the American League East.
They are only 2 1/2 games out in the Wild Card race, but they are clearly reeling from the Rafael Devers trade. That doesn't mean they won't try and find ways to bolster their roster, however.
Their starting rotation is questionable beyond Garrett Crochet, and they need an arm that could serve as a No. 2 starter behind him.
Cody Williams of FanSided proposed the idea of a trade for Texas Rangers starter Tyler Mahle.
"Walker Buehler was supposed to be the theoretical No. 2 in the rotation, but he's been abysmal. So, finding a No. 2 starter should be of the utmost importance, and Tyler Mahle could fit that bill," Williams wrote.

Mahle is currently on the injured list, but he has performed well when healthy this season.
In 14 starts with the Rangers, the 30-year-old right-hander is 6-3 with a 2.34 ERA. If he can get healthy, then the Red Sox would be wise to target him and add another starter to their mix.
The Rangers signed him to a two-year, $22 million deal prior to 2024. He started just three games for Texas last year, going 0-1 with a 4.97 ERA.
Health is obviously an issue for the veteran starter, but when he's right, he can be a serviceable member of any rotation.
We'll see how Boston approaches the deadline.
