The rumors are deafening. With Chris Jericho's AEW contract reportedly expiring, the wrestling world is bracing for a "Y2J" return. But is a homecoming to Triple H's WWE actually a disaster in disguise?
Before you celebrate the "Walls of Jericho" returning to Monday Night Raw, here are five reasons why this legendary comeback must not happen for Jericho's sake:
1. The Triple H "Bury" Factor- It’s no secret that Triple H and Jericho had massive backstage heat in the 90s. While they’ve played nice recently, "The Game" is now the Chief Content Officer. Would he truly prioritize a 55-year-old Jericho, or would old habits return to "bury" a former rival one last time?
2. Creative Freedom vs. Corporate Machine- In AEW, Jericho is "The Learning Tree"--he has total creative control. In WWE, he’s just another cog in the TKO machine. Does a legend really want to go back to scripted promos, and possibly get lost in the shuffle of talent?

3. Youth Movement / Roster Logjam- Triple H’s 2026 vision is clear. Bron Breakker, Trick Williams, Oba Femi, and other young studs are gaining momentum. Jericho coming in and taking a main-event spot away from one of the rising stars would turn the "New Era" crowd against him, after the initial "surprise return" pop wears off. "Le Champion" would not want to turn from appreciated legend into a lightning rod for resentment with the fans.
4. The "Greatest Hits" Trap: WWE returns for legends almost always devolve into nostalgia acts. Jericho has spent 30 years reinventing himself. A WWE run would inevitably force him back into the "Y2J" or "List of Jericho" characters, killing the forward-thinking momentum he’s built since 2019.
5. Retirement on His Own Terms: Jericho’s legacy is built on being the "outsider" who's creativity and ingenuity made him one of a kind. Ending his career back where he started feels like a surrender. To be the true G.O.A.T., he should finish his story in AEW or walk away entirely, and not "break the walls down" in going back to WWE.
