Satou Sabally says WNBA doesn't 'care about player safety' anymore image

It's not a secret that the WNBA's schedule this season has been tough.

Plenty of players have voiced their frustrations about back-to-back games and the rate of injuries that has seemed to plague the league as a whole all season.

While speaking to reporters about the Mercury's schedule, Satou Sabally bluntly said, "It's like they don't care about player safety. It's like they don't care about scheduling or whatever." The three-time All-Star also called the league's scheduling "terrible."

Phoenix played the Aces in Las Vegas on Thursday and will face the Golden State Valkyries in Phoenix on Friday.

"I mean, I only mentioned that one time at the beginning of the season, and I know people always love to come and say, you guys wanna get more?" Sabally continued. "You guys need to play all these games, but at some point, there's a sports science to it, and yeah, it's honestly just a game of game of game of game."

Sabally's last point was an apparent reference to those who insist WNBA players should put up with whatever the league offers if they want to make more money.

At the end of the day, the league's athletes are "professional," Sabally said. "So we do it."

The Mercury are currently fifth in the WNBA standings with a 21-14 record. They are 5-5 in their last 10 games.
