The Phoenix Mercury have waived Murjanatu Musa, the team announced on Thursday, July 8. The move is presumably to sign DeWanna Bonner, who last played on June 10 for the Indiana Fever. Bonner was waived from the Fever on June 25.

The update follows Monday night reports from ESPN that Bonner is still "expected" to sign with the Mercury.

Musa has put in a solid performance for the Mercury this season, and is averaging 3.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 10 minutes of play. Until she departed the team, Bonner was averaging 7.1 points and 3.8 rebounds in 21 minutes of play for the Fever.
