The Dallas Wings are 8-22 -- and facing the possibility of playing without Paige Bueckers this week.
During a loss to the New York Liberty on Tuesday night, Bueckers suffered what she called a "random" back injury while bringing the ball up the court in the third quarter. The rookie All-Star ended up playing 31 minutes and performing to her usual standard -- 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists -- though the Wings lost, 85-76.
“Yeah, I mean, I’m all right,” Bueckers said after the game at Barclays Center. “I just got it checked out. I think it’s just a pulled muscle. I felt a strain, felt it tighten, so I’m just going to get it worked out, take some medicine, and go from there.”

Bueckers continued playing after a quick evaluation of the injury, which she referred to as a pulled muscle. The Wings' star point guard has missed six games this season through a combination of injuries and load management, but she expressed some concern that the back tweak could see her sidelined.
“I’m hoping it won’t take me out,” Bueckers said. “I’ll get some treatment, get some rest, take some medicine. So I’m hoping it doesn’t take me out.”
The Wings are off until Friday, when they play the Liberty again at College Park Center. After that, Dallas hosts the Washington Mystics in a Sunday afternoon showdown in Arlington.
