The Washington Mystics’ top picks, Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen, drafted back-to-back at No. 3 and No. 4, are already making serious noise in the 2025 WNBA Rookie of the Year race.

With both rookies in the starting lineup, the Mystics are off to their best start since 2022, and their confidence and poise are turning heads league-wide. If you didn’t know better, you’d think Citron and Iriafen were seasoned vets, especially given how they perform in high-pressure moments.

Citron, a 6'1" guard out of Notre Dame, has shown elite composure and scoring ability. In the season opener, she dropped 19 points, two assists and two rebounds. She followed that with a clutch 15-point performance against the Connecticut Sun, adding three assists, two steals and a block, helping seal the game in the final seconds as the Mystics edged out a 90-85 win.

Iriafen, the 6'3" forward from USC, has been just as dominant. After scoring 14 points with four rebounds and two assists in her debut, she exploded in her second game with a monster double-double, 17 points, 14 rebounds and a block showcasing her all-around game on both ends of the court.
