Angel Reese is less than pleased with the current direction of the Chicago Sky. Recent comments to the Chicago Tribune laid bare Reese's frustration at playing for a losing team -- and the Sky responded by suspending the two-time All-Star for the first half of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Aces, after which the organization said "this matter has been handled and resolved internally."
Few though believe that is the case. The Sky has a long-standing reputation as one of the league's most unstable -- if not worst-run -- franchises, and Reese's insistence that she would not "settle for the same s---" in 2026 may well indicate that the star forward's WNBA future is elsewhere.

One anonymous WNBA executive told Dallas Hoops Journal that Reese "needs to get the hell out" of Chicago -- and that if the Sky does not test the trade waters for her this offseason, then she needs to force the issue and demand a move.
“You’re gonna suspend your best player just because she’s putting pressure on you to get better? That was embarrassing to see," the exec said. “I think Chicago will try to trade her this offseason, but if they don’t, she should request a trade.”

Reese has improved substantially in her second WNBA season, increasing her scoring average to 14.7 points while taking on point-forward duties in Chicago following a season-ending injury to guard Courtney Vandersloot. The former LSU Tiger remains an elite rebounder as well; she leads the league with 12.6 boards per game.
But Reese's individual excellence has not correlated to team success. The Sky has a 23-59 record since the start of 2024, and a 21-43 mark when Reese plays.
