Most triple-doubles in WNBA history: Sun's Alyssa Thomas sets marks with historic performance image

With a single triple-double, Alyssa Thomas broke two records.

In a history-making performance, the Connecticut Sun forward recorded 14 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists to lead her team to their 96-72 victory over Chicago on June 25.

Thomas now sits atop the WNBA's triple-double throne, unseating both Candace Parker and Sabrina Ionescu after the trio were previously tied atop the list with three regular-season triple-doubles a piece.

Only 22 triple-doubles have been recorded in league history: six from Thomas (including the playoffs), three from Parker and Ionescu, and 10 from eight others, including retired legends Sheryl Swoopes and Margo Dydek and active league stalwarts Courtney Vandersloot, Chelsea Grey and Moriah Jefferson.

WNBA triple-double record

Alyssa Thomas holds the record for the most triple-doubles in an WNBA career, with four during the regular season and two during the playoffs. And all of them have been recorded since July 22, 2022, happening in just over a season.

Thomas holds the record for most regular season triple-doubles (four), and also the most triple-doubles in a single career.

Sheryl Swoopes recorded the first ever triple-double in the WNBA in 1999, while Courtney Vandersloot had the first to get one in the Finals. Margo Dydek and Lisa Leslie are the only two players in league history to have recorded triple-doubles with blocks rather than assists.

Leslie also held the record for most points in a triple-double until Ionescu broke it in 2022 with 31 points.
