Controversy continues to envelop the Chicago Sky and its star forward Angel Reese, and a separation of their paths appears increasingly viable this offseason.

Following comments critical of her teammates as well as how the Sky organization has been run, Reese could be angling for a move out of Chicago, which has a 23-59 record over the past two seasons and would receive significant assets in any trade involving the two-time All-Star.

Reese has struggled with a back injury in recent months, which has played no small part in her missing 13 games this season. Upon picking up her eighth technical foul of the season in a win over the Connecticut Sun on Sept. 3, Reese was suspended without pay for one game before the Sky suspended her for the first half of Sunday's loss to the Las Vegas Aces

It appears as if the 88-64 win over the Sun last week could be Reese's final game as a Sky player. Reese did not participate in the open portion of shootaround ahead of Thursday's home game against the New York Liberty, and head coach Tyler Marsh characterized her as a game-time decision at Wintrust Arena.

Reese is 12 rebounds shy of winning the rebounding title over A'ja Wilson, though she is the only player in the WNBA averaging more than 10 rebounds per game this season. Reese has averaged 14.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 3.7 across 30 games in 2025, which is shaping up to end with a whimper instead of a bang for one of The W's elite talents.
