On Sunday, August 3, the Lynx announced the team traded forward Diamond Miller, guard Karlie Samuelson and Minnesota’s 2027 second-round draft pick in exchange for Carrington, who will join the team immediately. Carrington played 20 games for the Wings and is averaging 10.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.05 steals in 24.9 minutes per game.

Her first game with the Lynx will be Tuesday's match against the Storm.

The trade has the potential to decimate what is left of Dallas' season, which has so far not been the strongest. The team is currently ranked 11th in the league and holds a 8-21 record.

But the team has until August 7 to make more trade moves, and Carrington's departure will open up cap space if the Wings have any other plans in motion — though it's not immediately clear that they do.
