Five games remain on the Minnesota Lynx's regular season schedule, and the best team in the WNBA has nothing for which to play.
It is a privileged position in which Cheryl Reeve's team finds itself. Minnesota's 31 wins this season are a franchise record, and the Lynx clinched home-court advantage throughout the WNBA playoffs after defeating the Connecticut Sun, 94-70, on Saturday night.
As such, the Lynx are in a position to ensure their best players are ready to go when the playoffs begin on Sept. 14. To that end, Reeve will rest guard Kayla McBride for Monday night's home game against the Dallas Wings.

McBride, the WNBA's active leader in career 3-pointers made, was named an All-Star this year for the second successive season and for the fifth time in her 12-year career. In her age-33 season, McBride ranks second in The W in made threes; she has made them at a 42 percent clip, which ranks eighth in the league.

McBride, who has started each of her 35 appearances this season, is the Lynx's second-leading scorer, behind only MVP candidate Napheesa Collier. Her efficient scoring and lethal long-range shooting are vital components to Minnesota's multi-faceted offensive machine; keeping her healthy will go a long way toward ending the Lynx's eight-year title drought.
