The WNBA MVP race has yet to be settled, but it looks like ESPN has already made a selection.
On September 10, ESPN announced the top picks for multiple WNBA awards from several contributors, with MVP at the top of the list.
"Voting for award winners is one of the most difficult parts of evaluating a WNBA season. There are many deserving candidates to consider and tough decisions to make. We've tracked the front-runners throughout the 2025 season," the contributors collectively explained.

With that in mind, three of the four selected A'ja Wilson as MVP over Napheesa Collier, who entered the 2025 season as the presumptive candidate.
As ESPN noted, this year's MVP winner is unlikely to receive unanimous votes. Both Wilson and Collier have played ferocious basketball this season, though Collier missed 10 games due to an injury — a reality that could rule her out in the minds of many voters.
Wilson has also led the Aces on an unbelievable winning streak of late, a strong reminder of the fact that she is one of the best — if not the best — athletes in the league.
The pair could also be challenged by Alyssa Thomas, who did not get votes from ESPN but who has put in an impressive season of her own.
"Given that the Lynx have cruised to the best record in the WNBA, Collier could easily have remained the favorite if not for Wilson's finishing kick," ESPN's contributors wrote. "She has led the Aces' 15-game winning streak, which has lifted Las Vegas to second in the standings, and Wilson now rates even with or ahead of Collier in player value metrics on a per-minute basis, a change from the bulk of the season."
Should Wilson win, this will be her fourth MVP nod.
