It is unclear when or how Clark suffered the injury, but based on what the team has said, the earliest she could return is Tuesday, June 10, when Indiana travels to play the Atlanta Dream.
Quadriceps injury timeline
The injury and recovery timeline for a quadriceps strain depends on its severity, according to Medical News Today. These injuries can be Grade 1, 2 or 3, with a Grade 3 being the most severe.
A Grade 1 quadriceps strain typically takes 1-2 weeks to recover fully if the muscle is rested as much as possible. Grade 2 or 3 strains can sometimes take up to a month.
Caitlin Clark injury update
The severity of Clark's injury (meaning the grade of her left quadriceps strain), is initially unclear, but the Fever indicated she would be out a minimum of two weeks.
Earlier this year, Clark was held out of the Fever's first preseason game on May 3 with a "left leg injury." The team has not said if her new injury is related. The guard played in Indiana's next preseason game against the Brazilian national team and has not missed a regular season contest.
A quadriceps strain is a relatively common injury for basketball players. In January of 2023, Chicago Bulls guard DeMar DeRozan suffered a right quadriceps strain in a game against the Boston Celtics. He took roughly two weeks to recover and missed three games.
Caitlin Clark contract
Clark is in her second year of a four-year, $338,056 contract with the Fever, according to Spotrac. However, because of many high-priced endorsement deals —including an eight-year, $28 million contract with Nike — she is one of the richest players in the WNBA.
Fever schedule 2025
Based on what the Fever are saying, the earliest Clark can return from her left quad strain is June 10, when Indiana travels to play the Dream. That means she is going to miss the Fever's rematch with the Chicago Sky on June 7. If Clark is out longer than expected, she could miss Indiana's rematch with the New York Liberty, the defending WNBA champions, on June 14.
