The Fever tipped off the 2025 WNBA season full of hope, if not expectation, that Indiana fans would see their other professional basketball team launch a deep playoff run of its own following the Pacers' trip to the 2025 NBA Finals.

While the Fever remains on course to reach the playoffs for a second successive season, it has been far from a dream season in Indiana, which has a winning record (19-16) despite a wave of injuries.

Caitlin Clark has suffered three separate injuries this season that have limited her to only 13 games played. The superstar guard has not played since she strained her right groin on July 15, and Fever head coach Stephanie White isn't sure when Clark will return.

That uncertainty extends to the Fever locker room and even Clark herself.

Indiana guard Sophie Cunningham -- who suffered a season-ending knee injury on Sunday -- explained on her podcast that Clark continues to take her recovery day-by-day in hopes that she can hit the hardwood again before the playoffs.

"At this level, with how deep and how good people are nowadays in our league, just trying to get her back in game shape is what they're trying to do," Cunningham said on Show Me Something. "It's literally day-by-day."

Indeed, the WNBA is as intense and as competitive as it has been at any point in league history. With three weeks to go in the regular season, the second-seeded New York Liberty and the seventh-seeded Golden State Valkyries are separated by a mere four games.

In hopes of maximizing her long-term outlook, the Fever will continue to exercise caution with Clark, the league's most prized individual asset -- no matter how long it renders her unavailable.
