The 2025 WNBA season hasn't quite gone to plan for the Fever and their talisman, Caitlin Clark.
Fresh off of a starring campaign that saw her land Rookie of the Year and first-team All-WNBA honors, Clark was expected to take a major leap forward. Her team, which added perennial All-Stars Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner as well as Sophie Cunningham, was believed to be headed in a similar direction.
That hasn't come to fruition thus far. Clark has missed 10 matches due to injury, while Indiana sits just two games above .500.
And her spell on the sidelines could swell even larger. Clark exited the Fever's game on Tuesday night after injuring her right groin. With Indiana set for the second leg of its back-to-back against the Liberty on Wednesday, the question is clear: Will Clark be available?

Is Caitlin Clark playing today?
Clark's will not play in Wednesday night's duel with New York. The Fever designated her as out on Wednesday's injury report.
Given the nature of her ailment, her reaction and her recent history with quad and groin issues, that distinction seemed likely.
Indiana held Clark five games the last time she was felled by a groin injury. Assuming she re-aggravated that malady, it's hard to imagine Indiana not holding out for a similar—or perhaps even longer—period of time.

Clark's potential absence would loom large on a Fever team that has struggled with consistency throughout the year. New York is a formidable adversary—the Liberty sit first in the Eastern Conference with a 14-6 record. Indiana, meanwhile, is clinging to the final postseason spot in the conference with a 12-10 record, just one game above the fifth-place Mystics.
Nevertheless, Stephanie White and Co. are unlikely to jeopardize its sophomore standout's health in the match, especially with the All-Star break approaching.
"I think we just take it one step at a time," White said on Tuesday. "We'll get some food and get on the plane and start talking about New York. She's being evaluated; we'll see where we are with that. And certainly, we'll have another evaluation, probably, and conversation in the morning, see where we are. But this group has played without her. At least we've got experience in that."

What is Caitlin Clark's injury?
Clark is dealing with an injury to her right groin. The issue surfaced late in the fourth quarter of the Fever's 85-77 win over the Sun on Tuesday night. After setting up Kelsey Mitchell with a slick dime in the game's waning moments, Clark took a few steps towards the opposite basket. She swiftly tugged at her right groin before immediately casting her eyes towards Indiana's bench.

Clark was summarily removed from the game, strutting to the bench gingerly. Her eyes grew wet and weary, with Clark cloaking her head in a towel to keep the tears away.

Interestingly, Clark's prior two injuries occurred on the left side of her body. She missed five games in May and June after suffering a left quad strain before spending another five-game spell on the bench in late June and early July because of left groin trouble. Clark also sat out a preseason fixture with quad tightness, although she returned to the floor just one day later to compete in an exhibition at Iowa, her alma mater.
Postgame, White confirmed that Clark "felt a little something in her groin" and would be evaluated. Prior to his year, Clark never sat out a game in her college or pro career.
