Tim Duncan was one of the best interior defenders of his generation.

Those genes have translated well to the volleyball court for his daughter, Sidney.

Sidney is a middle blocker for the Stanford Cardinal, who are playing in the NCAA regional semifinals on Friday.

She has played sparingly so far as a sophomore, but her future appears bright.

Sidney is 6-foot-4.

In high school in San Antonio, she won a state championship as a senior.

Sidney is the oldest sibling of three children of Tim Duncan and Amy Sherrill. The two younger siblings are Draven and Quill.

Stanford's women's volleyball team is a 2-seed, taking on 3-seed Wisconsin in what amounts to the volleyball tournament's Sweet 16.

The Cardinal entered Friday's match with a 29-4 record on the season.

Sidney Duncan is the second-tallest player on the roster. Only fellow sophomore middle blocker Lizzy Andrew is taller, at 6-foot-5.
