Now that postseason play in Texas high school football made it past the opening week, several standouts across the state turned in stellar performances.

Here’s a look at those top performers from the bi-district round of the Texas playoffs. Also, readers can now vote on who they think should be the Texas Player of the Week. Vote as many times as you like until 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, and the winner will be announced next week.

Carter Cook, Mt. Pleasant

The Tigers’ senior quarterback, Cook threw for 326 yards and two TDs, completing 20-of-33 passes, while adding a rushing TD as the Tigers - despite entering the playoffs with a sub-.500 record, upended Montgomery, 48-45.

Caleb Crenshaw, Austin Anderson

Crenshaw, a senior tailback, ran for 191 yards on 20 carries and one TD while catching five passes for 74 yards and two more scores in the Trojans’ dramatic 35-34 bi-district win against Friendswood. He also became the career rushing leader in the history of the Austin Independent School District.

Carter Dominguez, Gregory-Portland

A quarterback, Dominguez accounted for 400 yards of total offense in a 75-50 win against Kerrville Tivy. He passed for 277 yards on 21-of-29 attempts and four TDs and also rushed for 123 yards on 28 carries and two more scores.

Jaxyn Faldyn, Tomball

Faldyn, a senior quarterback, was 11-of-15 passing for 192 yards and four TDs while adding 80 yards and a TD on nine carries as the Cougars defeated Waller, 56-42.

Keilan Gause, Conroe Grand Oaks

Gause, a senior tailback, rushed for 300 yards on 30 carries - meaning he averaged exactly 10 yards per carry - while scoring two TDs in a 38-28 win against Aldine Nimitz, which was also the Grizzlies’ first-ever postseason win.

Trevor Golightly, Edgewood

A junior quarterback, Golightly completed 71% of his passes (20-of-28) for 269 yards and two TDs and also added 74 yards rushing and two TDs as the Bulldogs got past New Boston, 42-39.

Brox Hacker, Canyon

Hacker, a junior quarterback, completed 11-of-14 passes for 240 yards and five TDs while adding a rushing TD in the Eagles’ 66-13 win against El Paso Ysleta.

Emerson Hadnot, Tyler All Saints

A senior tailback, Hadnot carried the ball 17 times for 217 yards and four TDs along with a two-point conversion run in the Trojans’ 49-34 win against Hill County Christian School of Austin.

Julian Hernandez, El Paso Andress

A sophomore running back, Hernandez ran for 131 yards on 17 carries and two TDs and also caught three passes for 36 yards in the Eagles’ 28-14 win against Wichita Falls Memorial.

Braeden Imhoff, Prosper

The Eagles’ quarterback nearly threw for 500 yards in their playoff opener. He ended up with 496 yards on 22-of-30 passing along with eight TDs as Prosper outlasted Hebron, 66-39.

Jaden Jeffress, Carthage

A junior tight end, Jeffress caught six passes for 108 yards and had two TDs as the Bulldogs moved to 11-0 after outlasting Pittsburg, 63-34.

Chamayne Johnson Jr., Lubbock-Cooper

A senior tailback, Johnson rushed for 103 yards on 26 carries and three TDs and also caught a pass for another score in the Pirates’ 45-42 win against El Paso Del Valle.

Jorge Luna, Laredo United

A senior quarterback, Luna completed 23-of-31 passes for 406 yards and six TDs as the Longhorns moved on after a 42-0 win against Converse Judson.

Wiley Olson, Austin Vandegrift

Olson, a senior placekicker and SMU commit, made three field goals, including the game-winner from 36 yards out on the game’s final play, as the Vipers rallied for a 16-14 win against Austin Westlake. He also kicked a PAT to finish with 10 total points.

Tyce Payne, Vernon

Payne, a sophomore running back/linebacker, ran for 163 yards on just nine carries and scored four TDs, while on defense, recorded seven tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks in the Lions’ 42-14 win against Clyde.

Kaileb Peterson, Dickinson

A senior tailback, Peterson rushed for 171 yards on 13 carries and three TDs while adding three receptions for 50 yards as the Gators remained undefeated after a 51-47 win against Humble Atascocita.

Lexston Reese, Quanah

A sophomore running back, Reese rushed for 404 yards and four TDs and also threw a 29-yard TD pass as the Indians rolled past Petrolia, 57-28.

Damarian Robinson, West Mesquite

Robinson rushed for 221 yards and scored four TDs as West Mesquite rallied for a 28-24 win against Frisco. Two of his scores came in the fourth quarter.

JaDarius Sanders, El Paso El Dorado

Sanders had a huge night in his team’s wild, 77-76 win against Amarillo High in the 5A DII playoffs. He had 200 total yards of offense (101 receiving, 99 rushing), five total TDs, including three receiving along with returning a kickoff 90 yards for a TD.

Wynter Smith, San Antonio Brandeis

Smith, a junior signal-caller, completed 13-of-18 passes for 144 yards and a TD while adding 196 yards rushing on 27 carries and four TDs as the Broncos outlasted crosstown rival Sotomayor, 35-32.

Logan Spalding, Ingram Moore

A junior quarterback, Spalding completed 25-of-44 passes for 339 yards and three TDs to help power the Warriors past Hondo, 24-17.

George Toia, Trophy Club Byron Nelson

A junior defensive lineman, Toia had a huge night in his team’s 42-14 win against Mansfield in the 6A Division II bi-district round. He had six total tackles, one tackle for loss, four sacks and three quarterback hurries - all coming in the first half.

Jayden Warren, Iowa Colony

Warren, a senior receiver and University of Houston commit, caught six passes for 144 yards and four TDs as the Pioneers downed Belton, 54-14.

Brett Wells, Troup

Wells, a junior quarterback, completed 13-of-15 passes for 166 yards and three TDs while adding a whopping 278 yards on the ground, carrying the ball 15 times and adding four scores as the Tigers moved to 11-0 after a 55-0 win against Anderson-Shiro. He also had six tackles and one tackle for loss on defense.

Mike Williams, Robstown

Williams played an integral part in the Cottonpickers winning its first postseason game in 15 seasons with a 38-28 defeat against Port Isabel. The senior caught an 80-yard TD pass and also returned a fumble for another score.
