Playoff time in Tennessee took place last week, and undoubtedly there were several standouts from all parts of the state.
Here’s a look at those top performers from Round 1 of the playoffs. Also, readers can now vote on who they think should be the Tennessee Player of the Week. Vote as many times as you like until 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, and the winner will be announced next week.

Top performances from Round 1 in the Tennessee high school football playoffs

Andre Adams, Antioch
Adams completed 17-of-26 passes for 323 yards and three TDs and added 83 yards rushing and two more scores as the Bears began the Class 6A playoffs with a 42-13 win against Shelbyville.
Caden Baugh, Greeneville
Baugh, a senior QB, completed all 11 of his pass attempts, producing 274 yards and four TDs in a 56-10 win against Carter in the Class 4A playoffs. He also added 107 yards on just five carries and scored two TDs.
Daniel Booker, Columbia Central
Booker, a junior, rushed for 355 yards on 29 carries and scored six TDs as the Lions outlasted East Hamilton, 70-42, in the opening round of the 5A playoffs.
Lionel Brooks, Spring Hill
Brooks carried the ball 30 times and produced 325 yards and four TDs in Spring Hill’s 41-34 Class 4A playoff win against White House, the Raiders’ first postseason triumph since 2017. He also had a TD pass and picked off a pass.
Levi Chappell, Dobyns-Bennett
Chappell, a junior quarterback, completed 19-of-29 passes for 265 yards and a TD and added 121 yards rushing on 19 carries and three more scores in the Indians’ 27-21 win against Farragut in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
Lane Clement, Science Hill
The Hilltoppers’ senior QB engineered a final-minute rally as Science Hill upended Oak Ridge, 35-31, in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs. Clement completed 13-of-23 passes for 218 yards and three TDs, the latter with 34 seconds left to complete the comeback.
Canon Day, Germantown Houston
The Mustangs’ QB did a little bit of everything in a 33-22 opening-round win against Germantown. He threw for 88 yards and two TDs, rushed for 125 yards on 11 carries and a TD and even caught a 31-yard TD pass.
Andrus Farmer, Memphis Central
Farmer, a senior receiver/defensive back, had 128 yards of total offense, including 80 yards receiving on eight catches in the Warriors’ 24-10 win against Dickson County to begin the Class 5A playoffs.
Maddox Franklin, Lincoln County
A senior quarterback, Franklin completed 7-of-13 passes for 156 yards and three TDs and added 77 rushing yards in Lincoln County’s 34-14 win against McMinn County in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs, the Falcons' first playoff win since 2007.
Mitchell Grandjean, Franklin Centennial
Grandjean, a senior quarterback, threw for 348 yards and three TDs on 16-of-27 passing and also added a rushing TD in the Cougars’ 38-28 win at Station Camp in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Hicks Hunter, Sycamore
Hunter rushed for 117 yards and three TDs, added 56 yards receiving, intercepted a pass and also recovered an onside kick which sealed Sycamore’s 30-27 upset win against top seed White House Heritage in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs.
Will Jones, Maryville
A junior QB, Jones completed 12-of-15 passes for 224 yards and four TDs in the Rebels’ 41-7 win against West Ridge in the 6A playoffs.
Gabriel Lee, Jackson Trinity Christian Academy
Lee, a senior, had a huge night for TCA in a 55-7 Division II-A first round win against Franklin Christian. He picked off three passes, returning one of those for a TD, and broke up another pass. He also had six tackles, one for loss.
Quincy Mitchell, Forrest
Mitchell had a huge night on both sides of the ball in Forrest’s 49-36 win against Chattanooga Prep in the first round of the Class 3A playoffs. He rushed for 406 yards on 43 carries and scored six TDs and also returned a fumble 33 yards for another score.
Ryan Newell, Nolensville
Newell, a junior quarterback, completed 9-of-13 passes for 152 yards and two TDs and also added 140 yards rushing on 12 carries in the Knights’ 30-6 win against Portland in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Jack Nimitz, Franklin Road Academy
Nimitz, a sophomore quarterback, completed 15-of-22 passes for 396 yards and five TDs in his team’s 54-14 win against Lakeway Christian in the first round of the DII-AA playoffs.
Kadyn Page, Stone Memorial
A junior, Page caught nine passes for 112 yards and three TDs in the Panthers’ 44-21 win against Loudon in the first round of the 4A playoffs.
Carter Pettigrew, Lawrence County
Pettigrew carried the ball 28 times and produced 265 yards and four TDs in the Wildcats’ 38-20 win at Rhea County in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs.
Jacolbi Salley, Chattanooga Red Bank
Salley, a junior tailback, had a huge night running the ball in the Lions’ 31-28 Class 4A opening-round win against defending state champion Macon County. He carried the ball 20 times for 240 yards and scored four TDs.
Wiley Suskawicz, Bradley Central
A senior linebacker, Suskawicz became the Bears’ all-time leader in tackles with 316 as he finished with 12 stops in Bradley Central’s 31-20 win against Jefferson County in the Class 6A first round. He also intercepted a pass and scored two TDs.
Jayzon Thompson, Anderson County
Thompson had 275 yards of total offense in a 37-21 win against Volunteer in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. He rushed for 166 yards on 21 carries and four TDs and also caught seven passes for 109 yards and another score.
Tyler Thompson, Marshall County
A senior quarterback, Thompson completed 82% of his passes in a first-round 48-21 Class 4A win against Liberty Creek. He was 9-of-11 passing for 192 yards and three TDs.
Jacob Vaughn, Murfreesboro Riverdale
Vaughn, a sophomore tailback, ran for 275 yards and a TD as the Warriors posted a 28-7 win against Lebanon in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
Tae Walden Jr., Collierville
Walden, a junior two-way standout at receiver and defensive back, caught three passes for 119 yards and two TDs along with taking an interception back to the house in the Dragons’ 56-0 win against White Station in the Class 6A playoff opener.
DK Woods, Crockett County
In the Cavaliers’ 28-26 win against Kirby in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs, Woods rushed for 264 yards on 15 carries and reached the end zone three times.
