Vote: Who should be the top individual Oklahoma high school football performer from Week 3 (Sept. 15-21)? image

Though many teams in Oklahoma were off on Week 3, there were still plenty of solid individual performances across the state.

Here’s a look at those top performers from Week 3. Also, readers can now vote on who they think should be the Oklahoma Player of the Week. Vote as many times as you like until 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, and the winner will be announced next week.

 

Top performances from Week 3 in Oklahoma high school football

(This list is in alphabetical order)

Wyatt Atkinson, Perkins-Tryon: Atkinson rushed for 172 yards and had five total TDs, three of those rushing, in a 70-18 win against Tulsa Webster. He also had a 31-yard pick-six and a 57-yard kickoff return for another score and even blocked a punt.

Cody Botts, Hulbert: Botts rushed for 184 yards on 16 carries and two TDs and also caught four passes for 104 yards and two more scores as the Riders defeated Westville, 30-24.

Kale Brakefield, Sulphur: The Bulldogs’ QB completed 10-of-13 passes for 319 yards and four TDs - all in the first half - in a 42-7 win against Cache.

Keyshaun Brown, Wagoner: The Bulldogs’ quarterback passed for 235 yards on 18-of-26 passing and two TDs, including one with less than two minutes left that eventually helped Wagoner pull out a 21-20 win against Bristow.

Connor Claborn, Lawton MacArthur: Claborn rushed for 172 yards on 22 carries with two TDs as the Highlanders rallied from a three-score deficit to eventually down Ponca City in overtime, 60-57.

Kamieon Compton-Nero, Rejoice Christian: A sophomore quarterback, Compton-Nero completed 16-of-27 passes and threw for 323 yards and two TDs in a 31-9 win against Christian Heritage. Also a defensive back, Compton-Nero recorded eight tackles.

Ben Daniels, Collinsville: Daniels, a senior receiver, caught seven passes for 158 yards and scored three TDs in the Cardinals’ 47-27 win against Bartlesville.

Graham Donaldson, Mustang: A junior quarterback, Donaldson completed 20-of-24 passes for 275 yards and five TDs in the Broncos’ 62-13 win against Westmoore.

Ka’Dean Drummond, Skiatook: A senior tailback, Drummond ran for 166 yards on 26 carries and three TDs as the Bulldogs defeated Tulsa Hale, 27-17.

Legend Ellis, Coweta: Ellis, a junior, threw for 270 yards on 14-of-20 passing along with two TDs in the Tigers’ 41-12 win against Prairie Grove (Ark.).

Donavin Garfield, Seminole: A quarterback, Garfield completed 17-of-21 passes for 280 yards in a 46-34 win against Harrah. But it was his rushing totals that stood out, as Garfield gained 143 yards on 19 carries while scoring a whopping seven TDs.

Cecil Garrett IV, Claremore: Garrett, a senior tailback, carried the ball 30 times and produced 224 yards and two TDs as the Zebras outlasted Hilldale, 39-33.

Nathan Gonzalez, Bixby: Gonzalez, a senior, ran back the opening kickoff for a TD. But that’s not all, as he went on to catch four passes for 96 yards and score two more times as the Spartans kept on rolling with a 57-7 win against Choctaw.

Lincoln Gott, Barnsdall: A senior quarterback, Gott passed for 224 yards and two TDs while adding 174 yards rushing on 24 carries and three TDs in a wild 37-36 win against Nowata.

Taven Hayes, Southmoore: Hayes, a junior quarterback, accounted for five total TDs - four of those passing - in his team’s 43-14 win against Putnam City North.

Nash Henry, Norman North: Henry, a sophomore quarterback, completed 23-of-30 passes for 419 yards and four TDs in the Timberwolves’ 61-24 win against Moore.

Delijah Matthews, Midwest City Carl Albert: Matthews rushed for 159 yards on 34 carries with a TD and also completed all three of his pass attempts for 35 yards and two more scores in the Titans’ 28-19 win against Stillwater.

Ritson Meyer, Elgin: The Owls’ standout senior running back/linebacker ran for 179 yards on 26 carries and scored four TDs in the Owls’ 42-24 win against Newcastle. He also picked off a pass and forced two fumbles on defense.

Benny Mthethwa, Idabel: Mthethwa did everything in all three phases. He caught four passes for 168 yards and scored three TDs, had two sacks and forced a fumble on defense and even kicked six PATs as the Warriors posted a 47-33 win at Ashdown, Ark.

Crew Noles, Norman: Noles caught five passes for 157 yards and two TDs as the Tigers downed Piedmont, 37-7.

Dax Owens, Davis: Owens passed for 155 yards and three TDs while adding 166 yards rushing with a score as the Wolves held off Plainview, 36-35.

Daelon Rice, Guthrie: A junior, Rice threw for 171 yards and three TDs as the Bluejays downed Blanchard, 48-7.

Cam Stephenson, Tulsa Edison: A sophomore quarterback, Stephenson threw for 108 yards and two TDs, all in the first half, as the Eagles downed crosstown rival Memorial, 64-0.

Easton Webb, Sand Springs: The Sandites’ QB passed for 218 yards and became the school’s all-time leader in passing yardage in a 35-0 win against Bishop Kelley. He also had three TD runs.

Cale Wigington, Caddo: The Bruins’ QB was 13-of-16 passing for 232 yards and two TDs and added 201 yards rushing on 12 carries and four TDs in a 49-34 win against Waurika.
