Playoff football in the state of Louisiana arrived last week.
Though several of the top programs in “The Pelican State” drew opening-round byes, there were some other schools that picked up huge wins, moving on to play another week in its respective brackets.
Here’s a look at those top performers from the opening week of the Louisiana playoffs. Also, readers can now vote on who they think should be the Louisiana Player of the Week. Vote as many times as you like until 11:59 p.m. CT on Sunday, and the winner will be announced next week.

Top performances from Week 1 of the playoffs in Louisiana high school football

Noah Antoine, Westgate
Antoine threw for 220 yards and four TDs in the Tigers’ 49-14 win against Airline.
Antrel Broom, Leesville
Broom completed six passes, with four going for touchdowns, while racking up 202 yards in a 52-7 win against Kenner Discovery.
Mason Coleman, Terrebonne
A junior defensive lineman/linebacker, Coleman recorded 17 tackles, three tackles for loss, a sack and a pass breakup in a 27-24 first-round playoff win against Natchitoches Central.
Krew Collura, Mandeville
In his postseason debut, the Skippers’ freshman quarterback completed 18-of-23 passes for 335 yards and five TDs and also rushed for 70 yards and a TD in Mandeville’s 48-27 win against Thibodaux.
Macario Dade Jr., Ouachita Parish
A senior tailback, Dade rushed for 221 yards on 32 carries with a TD and also had three tackles, with one for loss, on defense in the Lions’ 24-21 win against St. Amant.
Javaughn Fairley, DeRidder
Fairley ran for 121 yards on just five carries and also had three TDs to help the Dragons to a 35-16 win against Eunice. He also caught two passes for 21 yards.
Marquise Franklin, Parkview Baptist
Franklin, a sophomore tailback, rushed for 380 yards on 31 carries and scored six TDs in the Eagles’ 42-28 win against D’Arbonne Woods.
Patrick Gales, Brusly
Gales, a senior running back, had 101 yards of total offense with two rushing TDs and a receiving TD in the Panthers’ 42-6 win against Albany.
Jackson Gaskin, Captain Shreve
The Gators’ quarterback completed 15-of-19 passes for 305 yards and four TDs in his team’s 61-21 win against Hammond.
Max Gassiott, Central-Baton Rouge
A junior quarterback, Gassiott was 16-of-20 passing for 189 yards and two TDs in the Wildcats’ 52-24 win against Dutchtown.
Jordin Griffin, Barbe
Griffin, a junior tailback and an LSU baseball commit, rushed for 267 yards on 16 carries and scored six TDs in the Buccaneers’ 49-21 win against Northwood-Shreveport.
Jaydan Hamilton, Mansfield
The sophomore tailback rushed for 190 yards on just 10 carries and tallied four TDs while also catching a two-point pass as the Wolverines downed Winnfield, 42-12.
Coryan Hawkins, Rummel
Hawkins, a junior running back, gained 143 yards on 19 carries and scored twice in Rummel’s 24-0 win against Holy Cross.
Devin Lavalais, Marksville
The Tigers’ quarterback completed 11-of-15 passes for 217 yards and five TDs and added 103 yards rushing on 17 carries in Marksville’s 48-14 win against Patterson.
Isaiah Lavalais, Acadiana
Lavalais, a senior linebacker was the Rams’ leading tackler with 12 total stops, including three tackles for loss, while also recording three sacks as Acadiana beat Carencro for the second time in as many weeks, this time in a playoff contest, 29-21.
CJ Levingston, St. Michael the Archangel
Levingston rushed for 93 yards with a TD and also caught six passes for 127 yards and another score in the Warriors’ 35-12 win against Loranger in the Division II Select playoffs.
Aidyn Moran, Menard
Moran gained 183 yards on 11 carries and scored four TDs in the Eagles’ 47-0 win against Thomas Jefferson.
Owen Morris, Catholic-New Iberia
Morris rushed for 224 yards on 19 carries and scored five TDs in the Panthers’ playoff win.
Dorian Taylor, Ferriday
Taylor completed 12-of-21 passes for 249 yards and five TDs in the Trojans’ 58-0 win against Northeast.
Landen Teague, Hahnville
Teague, a junior QB, was 12-of-21 passing for 143 yards and four TDs while adding a rushing TD in Hahnville’s 52-39 win against Slidell.
Daniel Thomas, Many
Thomas accounted for all five Tiger touchdowns - all coming on the ground - in their 35-27 win against Red River.
Alericq Valentine, De La Salle
Valentine, a sophomore quarterback, was 11-of-15 passing for 116 yards and three TDs in the Cavaliers’ 45-14 win against Episcopal in the opening round of the Division III Select playoffs.
Justin Williams, Southside
Williams rushed for 274 yards on 27 carries and scored four TDs in the Sharks’ opening-round playoff win against Prairieville.
Kaleb Williams, Parkway
Williams, a senior quarterback, completed 14-of-18 passes for 184 yards and two TDs to lift the Panthers past Covington, 51-30.
Hudson Wright, Metairie Park Country Day
Wright, a senior quarterback, was 18-of-27 passing for 316 yards and six TDs - five coming in the first half - in his team’s 56-15 win against Beekman.
