In Tennessee, high school football is nearing the stretch run toward the upcoming playoffs.
Several players are doing their part to ensure their respective teams make it to the big dance and even then, they’re not ready for the music to stop.
Here, now, is a look at the top performers from Week 7. Also, readers can now vote on who they think should be the Tennessee Player of the Week.

Joseph Armenta, Carter
Armenta rushed for 137 yards on 15 carries and two TDs and caught three passes for 28 yards and another score in Carter’s 49-6 region win against Fulton. He also had five tackles, two tackles for a loss and an interception on defense.
Brycen Blevins, Elizabethton
A freshman making his first varsity start, Blevins completed 12-of-17 passes for 200 yards and three TDs as the Cyclones picked up a 49-6 win against region rival Grainger.
Sawyer Boyd, Walker Valley
Boyd, a senior receiver, caught nine passes for 119 yards and two TDs and also returned a kickoff for another score as the Mustangs edged East Hamilton, 40-37.
Isaiah Burton, Jackson North Side
Burton, a junior edge rusher, finished with nine tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup in a 42-21 win against Hardin County.
Walker Davis, Covington
Davis had 102 yards of total offense and five TDs - three of those rushing - in a 62-7 win against Bolivar Central. The senior quarterback now has 21 total TDs on the season for a Chargers’ team that has already scored 401 points through seven games.
Peyton Dyer, Chattanooga Tyner Academy
A senior and a USC commit, Dyer ran back a punt 55 yards for a TD, returned a kickoff for 58 yards and had nine tackles as the Rams improved to 7-0 with a 46-37 win against crosstown foe Chattanooga Prep.
LJ Funk, Pearl-Cohn
A junior quarterback, Funk completed 20-of-29 passes for 366 yards and four TDs to pace the Firebirds to a 31-28 win against Bartlett.
David Gabriel-Georges, Chattanooga Baylor
The Class of 2027 highly recruited tailback turned in a massive game in the Red Raiders’ anticipated game against fellow Chattanooga rival McCallie. He rushed for 280 yards on 25 carries and scored three TDs in Baylor’s 38-35 win.
EJ Gibson, Ensworth
Gibson, a junior tailback, carried the ball 25 times and generated 254 yards and four TDs in the Tigers’ 35-6 win against Knoxville Catholic.
Zabian Goodwin, Dobyns-Bennett
A senior, Goodwin brought back three kickoffs for a total of 175 yards, including a 98-yard TD that turned out to be the game-winning score in a 21-14 win against Jefferson County. He also made five tackles and had a key pass breakup on fourth down late in the game.
Justis Haggard, Oakland
Haggard ran for 103 yards on five carries with three TDs and also picked off two passes in a 35-14 win against Rockvale.
Malik Howard, Oak Ridge
Howard hauled in 10 receptions for 144 yards and two TDs in his team’s 34-7 win against Bearden.
William Jones, Briarcrest Christian
Jones caught seven passes for 91 yards and scored two TDs, including the game-winning score in overtime as the Saints got past Christian Brothers, 24-17.
Kaedyn Marable, Battle Ground Academy
The senior quarterback completed 19-of-22 passes for 379 yards and five TDs and added a rushing TD in a 55-10 win against Davidson Academy.
Cooper Newman, Sevier County
The Smoky Bears’ QB completed all 15 of his pass attempts for 312 yards and five TDs as Sevier County posted a 56-0 win against Cocke County.
Zyon Nnaji, Fayetteville
Nnaji rushed for 247 yards on 20 carries and crossed the end zone three times in his team’s 35-13 win against Huntland.
Chase Norman, Gibbs
A senior tight end/linebacker, Norman caught three passes for 87 yards and a TD while recording eight tackles and a forced fumble on defense as Gibbs bested Anderson County, 35-28.
Rawls Patterson, Christ Presbyterian Academy
Patterson rushed for 213 yards on 29 carries with a TD and also caught four passes for 29 yards as CPA edged Montgomery Bell Academy, 16-15.
Tae Walden Jr., Collierville
A junior, Walden had 114 yards receiving and three TDs to pace the Dragons to a 61-0 win against Craigmont. Earlier this week, he reported an offer from Michigan.
Brooks Wright, Memphis Central
A quarterback, Wright completed 11-of-18 passes for 171 yards and four TDs as his team defeated Overton, 41-0.
