It was another exciting week of high school football in Tennessee, and there were some top performers on both sides of the ball.

Here’s a look at those top individual performances from Week 2.

Top performances from Week 2 in Tennessee high school football

Matthew Anderson, Ravenwood: Anderson, a senior linebacker, registered 11 tackles, four for loss, two sacks, a pass deflection and a forced fumble that resulted in a safety in the Raptors’ 43-14 win against Green Hill.

Lawrence Autry, Collierville: The Tulane running back commit rushed for 258 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns - including the game-winning score with 37 seconds left - in the Dragons’ 39-35 win against Horn Lake, Miss.

Jace Ballard, Knoxville Grace Christian: A senior receiver, Ballard caught eight passes for 150 yards and three TDs and also added a 17-yard rushing TD in the Rams’ 42-21 win against Chattanooga Christian.

Connor Begley, Volunteer: Just a freshman, Begley finished with eight tackles, five for loss, seven quarterback pressures and four pass deflections in the Falcons’ 42-7 win against Grainger, moving Volunteer to 3-0 on the season.

Sam Bobo, Tullahoma: A senior, Bobo intercepted three passes in the Wildcats’ 39-20 win against Cleveland.

Markus Cantrell, Hendersonville John Paul II: A sophomore running back, Cantrell gained 202 yards and two touchdowns as the Knights defeated Columbia Academy, 34-21.

Josiah Claybrooks, Kirkwood: The senior tailback tallied 140 yards on 16 carries and two TDs in Kirkwood’s 21-0 win against Kenwood.

Logan Clayton, Lawrence County: The senior quarterback threw for 242 yards and three TDs and also had 140 yards rushing with three TDs in the Wildcats’ 42-28 win against Giles County.

Jermaine Cobbins, Springfield: A sophomore receiver, Cobbins hauled in six passes for 143 yards and a pair of TDs as Springfield downed Portland, 27-19.

Jamir Dean, Alcoa: In the Tornadoes’ 52-7 win against Gibbs, the junior caught five passes for 82 yards and two TDs. He also had a sack, a tackle for loss and a quarterback pressure on defense.

Parker Emerson, Brentwood: Emerson, a junior, caught six passes for 92 yards and three TDs and added 76 yards rushing on four carries with a TD in the Bruins’ 35-7 win against Summit.

Nix Fullen, Tipton-Rosemark: The senior running back rushed for 197 yards on 18 carries and had five TDs as the Rebels ran past Harding, 49-19. Fullen already has 10 TDs on the season.

Ahvare Galbreath, Clarksville: Galbreath rushed for 94 yards and two TDs and was the leading tackler on defense with five stops, including two for loss, in the Wildcats’ 38-6 win against Rossview.

Brett Godwin, Lakeland Prep: A quarterback, Godwin completed 25-of-37 passes for 282 yards and four TDs as the Lions got their first win of the season, 36-28, against Millington.

Kris Groves, East Robertson: In a 34-3 win against Cedar Hill Jo Byrns, Groves caught four passes for 125 yards and also picked off a pass on defense while forcing a fumble and had a team-high eight tackles, including two for loss.

Slim Leavell, Goodpasture: A junior receiver, Leavell caught seven passes for 202 yards and three TDs as the Cougars moved to 3-0 with a 60-7 win against Moore County.

Kaden Long, Knoxville Central: Long passed for 368 yards and three TDs on 21-of-32 passing, while adding 102 yards rushing on 19 carries and a TD in Central’s 29-21 win against crosstown foe West.

Rod Lucas, Arlington: A sophomore quarterback, Lucas was 16-of-23 passing for 281 yards and three TDs and also added 71 yards rushing and four scores in a 48-0 win against Memphis Hamilton, moving the Tigers to 3-0.

Kaedyn Marable, Franklin Battle Ground Academy: The senior quarterback and Columbia commit had 334 yards of total offense and four TDs as the Wildcats moved to 3-0 with a 42-17 win against Pearl-Cohn. He passed for 265 yards in the win.

Chaz Martin, Wilson Central: A senior, Martin set a school single-game record with 261 yards rushing and also had four TDs - which tied a single-game school record - as the Wildcats downed Coffee County, 29-22.

Tucker Mayo, Richland: The senior caught a TD pass and also returned an interception 78 yards for another score to help the Raiders to a 21-10 win against White House Heritage.

Jody Scruggs, Carter: A senior, Scruggs caught five passes for 247 yards and two TDs while adding 67 yards on the ground and two more scores in the Green Hornets’ 63-26 win against Union County.

Rhett Slagle, Elizabethton: A senior quarterback, Slagle completed 17-of-25 passes for 214 yards and two TDs as well as a rushing TD as the Cyclones defeated West Ridge, 21-19.

Demarcus Strickland, Dickson County: Strickland, a senior quarterback, threw for two TD passes and ran for another as the Cougars defeated rival Creek Wood, 24-23, in overtime. He helped force overtime with a pair of fourth-quarter TDs.

Ta'Rhye Taylor, Fayette Ware: Taylor, a junior linebacker, recorded 17 tackles in the Wildcats' 29-0 win against Bolton. He also forced a fumble, blocked a punt and broke up a pass.

Jayzon Thompson, Anderson County: Thompson ran for 154 yards and two TDs on just seven carries as the Mavericks downed Fulton, 46-0.
