High school football in Tennessee is off and rolling, with every team settled in to prepare for more games in the coming weeks.
With the second week of games in the books, it’s time to take a look back at some of the key performers in the state over the past weekend.
Top performances from Week 2 in Tennessee high school football
Andre Adams, Antioch: The Bears’ quarterback completed 11-of-17 passes for 242 yards and three TDs and also added 109 yards on 16 carries with a TD in Antioch’s 32-27 win against East Nashville.
Ethan Amyx, West Ridge: A senior running back, Amyx rushed for 208 yards on 11 carries and scored three TDs in the Wolves’ 41-10 win against David Crockett. All three of his TDs came in the third quarter, including one from 73 yards out.
Femi Babalola, Ravenwood: With his team trailing by seven points in overtime, Ravenwood’s QB scored on a 10-yard keeper and then connected with Taylen Vaughn on a game-winning two-point conversion to lift the Raptors past Lipscomb Academy, 22-21.
Oliver Bender, Nolensville: Bender hauled in eight receptions for 198 yards and crossed the end zone twice in Nolensville’s 23-21 win against Summit.
Jamari Brown, Columbia Central: Brown scored four total TDs in the Lions’ 51-12 win against Battle Creek. Three of those were on receptions - including TDs covering 56 and 60 yards - and the other came on a 41-yard pick-six.
Jared Curtis, Nashville Christian: Curtis, the five-star quarterback recruit who is committed to Georgia, was 20-of-31 passing for 189 yards and three TDs as well as carrying the ball 17 times for 134 yards and two more scores as the Eagles outlasted Ensworth in overtime, 42-41.
Jaxon Dabrowski, William Blount: A quarterback, Dabrowski had 369 yards of total offense in the Governors’ 59-20 win against Austin-East. He passed for 254 yards and two TDs while adding 115 yards and two more scores.
Walker Davis, Covington: Davis ran for 110 yards on 17 carries and scored five TDs in Covington’s 55-42 win against Haywood.
David Gabriel Georges, Chattanooga Baylor School: One of the top running backs in the Class of 2027, Gabriel Georges had 222 yards on 22 carries with four TDs in the Red Raiders’ 35-34 win against one of the top teams from Georgia, Rabun Gap.
Micah Godfrey, Lewis County: Godfrey rushed for 193 yards on 21 carries and had a TD in his team’s 18-12 win against Montgomery Central.
Jaden Haywood, East Hamilton: A senior tailback, Haywood rushed for 125 yards on 14 carries and scored three TDs to lift the Hurricanes past Meigs County, 35-28.
Walker Hobbs, Cheatham County: A sophomore tailback, Hobbs rushed for 134 yards on 20 carries and had two TDs in his team’s 40-20 win against Glencliff.
Bradley Hoffman, Summertown: Hoffman kicked the go-ahead field goal with more than a minute left, and then preserved the Eagles’ 16-14 win against Wayne County by picking off a pass in his own territory with less than 30 seconds left.
Jacob Manns, Lewisburg: A quarterback, Manns completed 13-of-26 passes for 163 yards and three scores in a 44-26 win against Mitchell.
Thomas Manu, Alcoa: The Tornadoes’ quarterback was 16-of-17 passing for 259 yards and six TDs as Alcoa, a week after defeating arch-rival Maryville, ran past Bearden, 63-13.
Connor McKinney, Hampton: The Bulldogs’ quarterback was 5-of-6 passing for 80 yards and three TDs and added 84 yards rushing on 16 carries with a TD in Hampton’s 36-20 win against Johnson County.
Hunter Minton, Sequatchie County: Minton, a junior QB, completed 15-of-22 passes for 302 yards and four TDs while adding 63 yards rushing in the Indians’ 29-7 win against Signal Mountain.
Tucker Pinion, White County: The quarterback was 6-of-7 passing for 125 yards, and half of his completions were turned into TDs in a 35-14 win against York Institute.
Noah Potter, Stone Memorial: A quarterback, Potter completed 20-of-34 passes for 238 yards and three TDs and added a rushing TD in his team’s 48-41 overtime win at Coalfield.
Kale Scott, Mt. Pleasant: Scott completed all 14 of his passing attempts for 205 yards and four TDs in his team’s 49-0 win against Zion Christian Academy.
Jackson Stroup, Gallatin: Stroup completed 31-of-43 passes for 320 yards and two TDs as Gallatin held off Franklin, 23-20.
Chelton Swafford, Beech: A senior tailback who is committed to East Tennessee State, Swafford tallied 154 yards and scored two TDs as well as a two-point conversion in the Buccaneers’ 29-0 win against Mt. Juliet.
Jaden Thomas, Whitehaven: The Tigers’ quarterback completed 12-of-18 passes for 182 yards with three TDs as Whitehaven outlasted Houston, 41-35.
Braydon Trusty, Springfield: A linebacker, Trusty finished with eight tackles, two for loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a recovered fumble as the Yellow Jackets defeated rival Clarksville, 19-7, to claim the Battle of the Bridge trophy.
Makhi Ward, Kingsbury: Ward caught six passes for 131 yards and three TDs to help the Falcons past Booker T. Washington, 34-6.
Kaden Weitzel, Livingston: The running back tallied 218 yards and scored four TDs while adding a 9-yard reception for another score as Livingston rolled past Warren County, 38-3.
