SN No. 1 St. John Bosco blows out Servite to set up Top 25 showdown with SN No. 15 Mater Dei.

Fresh off a 42-0 win over the Servite [Anaheim, CA] Friars last Friday night, the stage is now set for the SN No. 1 St. John Bosco [Bellflower, CA] Braves to take their biggest step, yet, toward the 2025 national championship in high school football.

St. John Bosco will host the SN No. 15 Mater Dei [Santa Ana, CA] Monarchs Friday night in the nation's most important rivalry game. Either Bosco or Mater Dei has won at least a share of every high school football national championship since 2017, and the Braves enter this game in the catbird seat to win another title.

The difference this time is that Mater Dei is already eliminated from the national championship picture, at least in AllSportsPeople High School Football Top 25. For the first time in more than a decade, the Monarchs have already lost two games in a single season, and they are reduced to playing spoiler in this game.

But make no mistake, this Mater Dei squad is certainly talented enough to wreck St. John Bosco's hopes of a national title with undefeated teams like the SN No. 2 IMG Academy [Bradenton, FL] Ascenders and the SN No. 3 Grayson [Loganville, GA] Rams waiting in the wings.

Understanding the SN Top 25 through transparency

Like any set of rankings, things may not always make sense at first glance, and there are as many approaches to ranking teams as there are selectors. Some rankings are simply a reflection of what has happened to date, and many of these are algorithm-based, subject to wild weekly swings like the Massey Ratings that are part of AllSportsPeople Composite Rankings released on Wednesdays.

Other rankings are more predictive – an attempt to account for what has happened, while attempting to line up teams in a way that will reflect potential future results. SN's approach falls somewhere in line with this way of thinking, and each week we first attempt to rank the teams by resume before considering wins and losses and head-to-head results. No system is perfect, but at least understanding our approach can help understand why we have the teams where we do.

Three teams currently lead the way with St. John Bosco, IMG Academy, and Grayson all in line to take a shot at the title should any of the other two teams in that trio stumble before the finish line. All three of those teams have huge games remaining on the schedule, however, and it isn't out of the question that if they all lose at least once, we could be forced to look elsewhere for a national champion. While the scenarios are complicated, there are still, theoretically, if not realistically, paths to a national title for all of the top 12 teams in the SN Top 25.

Further analysis is available each week in SN's Roadmap to the National Championship which attempts to assess which teams have been eliminated from national title consideration.

MORE NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL HEADLINES

AllSportsPeople High School Football Top 25

The entire SN Top 25 is unchanged this week as no ranked teams lost last week. That means St. John Bosco continues its run at the top of our list for at least another week.

SN No. 1 St. John Bosco [Bellflower, CA] Braves

2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 1

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. SN No. 15 Mater Dei [Santa Ana, CA] Monarchs (6-2)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — St. John Bosco 42, NR Servite [Anaheim, CA] Friars 0 (5-4)
W/L Streak:  9 wins

Like it or not, it always seems to come down to this game when you're talking about the high school football national championship as at least one of these teams – if not both of them – is always in the conversation. Since 2017, Mater Dei has won at least a share of six national titles while St. John Bosco has picked up two of its own, and it's currently the Braves who control their own destiny in the hunt for the 2025 national championship.

But that path to the title always runs through Mater Dei, and this year is no exception. And even if the Braves win this game, there's always the chance they'll run into the Monarchs again in the playoffs. But first things first – St. John Bosco can inch closer to a title with a win in this game Friday night, capturing the Trinity League crown in a season that still holds promise of so much more.

SN No. 2 IMG Academy [Bradenton, FL] Ascenders

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week: SN No. 2

Next Game: 11/1/2025 — at NR Hun [Princeton, NJ] Raiders (7-3)
Last Game: 10/25/2025 — IMG Academy 38, NR East St. Louis [IL] Flyers 14 (5-3)
W/L Streak:  9 wins

IMG Academy has done everything right so far in its pursuit of the 2025 national championship, but there are still a couple of major hurdles left to clear. The Ascenders don't control their own destiny as their hopes of a title are dependent on a St. John Bosco loss down the stretch, but the Floridians have a chance to make two more major statements starting this weekend in a dangerous road trip to take on the Hun Raiders of New Jersey.

After that, it's a home game against the current SN No. 4 St. Frances Academy Panthers to close out the season in what will essentially be a high school football bowl game for those two programs to make their final cases for national title consideration. It's a path filled with opportunity but also fraught with danger as the Ascenders head into the final stretch.

SN No. 3 Grayson [Loganville, GA] Rams

2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 3

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at NR Archer [Lawrenceville, GA] Tigers (6-3)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Grayson 42, NR South Gwinnett [Snellville, GA] Comets 3 (5-4)
W/L Streak:  23 wins

Grayson extinguished the South Gwinnett Comets quickly last week, jumping out to a 35-3 halftime lead en route to a 42-3 blowout win. Next up is a 6-3 Archer squad that shouldn't offer much more resistance as the Rams look to put the wraps on an undefeated regular season before heading into Georgia's GHSA Class 6A playoffs in a couple of weeks. They remain firmly in the national title conversation if either of the two teams in front of them stumble down the stretch.

SN No. 4 St. Frances Academy [Baltimore, MD] Panthers

2025 Record: 7-1
Last Week: SN No. 4

Next Game: 11/1/2025 — vs. NR The St. James Performance Academy [Springfield, VA] Strivers (7-0)
Last Game: 10/17/2025 — St. Frances Academy 29, NR Hun [Princeton, NJ] Raiders 7 (6-3)
W/L Streak:  6 wins

This week's game between St. Frances Academy and the St. James Performance Academy might be the most intriguing game of the national high school football season. The Strivers of Springfield, Virginia, are in the midst of their first varsity season, and they've compiled an 8-0 record against a schedule of opponents that includes three teams that St. Frances has also beaten. The Strivers' results from those game compare favorably to the Panthers, including a 30-14 win over the same Hun squad that St. Frances defeated on October 17. This could be the game that introduces The St. James Performance Academy to a national high school football audience.

SN No. 5 Centennial [Corona, CA] Huskies

2025 Record: 8-1
Last Week: SN No. 5

Next Game: 10/30/2025 — vs. NR Chaparral [Temecula, CA] Pumas (5-4)
Last Game: 10/23/2025 — Centennial 59, NR Norco [CA] Cougars 49 (6-3)
W/L Streak:  7 wins

Centennial struggled to put Norco away last week, and it ultimately took the Huskies scoring 59 points to seal the deal. But they did it, and now only Chaparral remains in the regular season. Norco got Centennial's attention last week and reminded them there's still some football left to play. We expect the Huskies got the message, and that will probably be to Chaparral's detriment as Centennial should roll to a big victory Thursday night.

SN No. 6 Buford [GA] Wolves

2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 6

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR Mill Creek [Hoschton, GA] Hawks (7-2)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Buford 55, NR Mountain View [Lawrenceville, GA] Bears 7 (1-9)
W/L Streak:  9 wins

Buford made it nine in a row last week in a 55-7 romp past Mountain View, and they'll put the wraps on an undefeated season Friday against a solid Mill Creek team that ultimately just doesn't have enough firepower to hang with the Wolves for four quarters.

SN No. 7 Southlake [TX] Carroll Dragons

2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 7

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR Keller [TX] Central Chargers (5-3)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Southlake Carroll 49, NR Bell [Hurst, TX] Blue Raiders 0 (5-3)
W/L Streak:  9 wins

Southlake Carroll remains the top-ranked team from Texas after handling the Bell Blue Raiders with ease in a 49-0 shutout win last Friday. Now, it's the Keller Central Chargers who will face the Dragons' fire, and the final result isn't likely to look much different this week.

SN No. 8 St. Thomas Aquinas [Fort Lauderdale, FL] Raiders

2025 Record: 8-1
Last Week: SN No. 8

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. SN No. 10 Chaminade-Madonna [Hollywood, FL] Lions (7-1)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — St. Thomas Aquinas 19, NR American Heritage [Plantation, FL] Patriots 12 (4-5)
W/L Streak:  8 wins

St. Thomas Aquinas struggled to crack American Heritage's stingy defense last Friday night, but it's important to remember that the Patriots were preseason Top 10 here in The SN Top 25. They lost their 5-star starting quarterback Dia Bell to injury early in the season, and they haven't been the same since, but they are still a talented squad capable of making good teams look a lot worse than they really are. The real test for the Raiders then is Friday night's matchup against the SN No. 10 Chaminade-Madonna Lions, and the winner will cling to its faint national title hopes. The loser is out of the running for good.

SN No. 9 Bishop Gorman [Las Vegas, NV] Gaels

2025 Record: 9-1
Last Week: SN No. 9

Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Foothill [Henderson, NV] Falcons (7-3)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Bishop Gorman 43, NR Shadow Ridge [Las Vegas, NV] Mustangs 0 (8-2)
W/L Streak:  5 wins

It's playoff time in Nevada, or at least it will be in a couple of weeks when the Gaels take on the Foothill Falcons in the semifinals of Nevada's NIAA Open Division state playoffs. It's a three-week break between games, but the Gaels will be heavy favorites to win their 15th state championship in 16 years in the Silver State's highest division. Stay tuned.

SN No. 10 Chaminade-Madonna [Hollywood, FL] Lions

2025 Record: 7-1
Last Week: SN No. 10

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at SN No. 8 St. Thomas Aquinas [Fort Lauderdale, FL] Raiders (8-1)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Chaminade-Madonna 47, NR Cardinal Gibbons [Fort Lauderdale, FL] Chiefs 0 (6-3)
W/L Streak:  7 wins

It's make or break time for Chaminade-Madonna and their opponents from St. Thomas Aquinas this Friday night. The Lions have managed to work their way back into the national Top 10 after a devastating 42-13 loss to the St. Frances Academy Panthers in the season opener, and they get an opportunity to add a major bullet point to their resume if they can knock off the No. 8 Raiders. As noted above, the winner stays in the fringe of the national title picture while the loser will be lucky to maintain its position in the Top 25.

SN No. 11 Sierra Canyon [Chatsworth, CA] Trailblazers

2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 11

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at NR Loyola [Los Angeles, CA] Cubs (4-5)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Sierra Canyon 40, NR Bishop Amat [La Puente, CA] Lancers 0 (5-4)
W/L Streak:  9 wins

Sierra Canyon is in cruise control to the finish line here in the regular season after crushing Bishop Amat, 40-0, last Friday. The Loyola Cubs are likely to be on the short end of a similar result before this one is all said and done.

SN No. 12 Allen [TX] Eagles

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week:  SN No. 12

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR McKinney [TX] Boyd Broncos (1-6)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Allen 31, SN No. 25 Prosper [TX] Eagles 30 (7-1)
W/L Streak:  8 wins

Allen survived its first real test of the season, albeit by a single point in a 31-30 win over the Prosper Eagles. The 1-6 McKinney Boyd Broncos will pay the price for that close call as Allen looks to regain its mojo with the playoffs fast approaching.

SN No. 13 Edna Karr [New Orleans, LA] Cougars

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week: SN No. 13

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at NR John Curtis Christian [River Ridge, LA] Patriots (7-0)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Edna Karr 63, NR Warren Easton [New Orleans, LA] Fighting Eagles 12 (3-5)
W/L Streak:  22 wins

Edna Karr have made it look relatively easy all year, even against good opponents, and the John Curtis Christian Patriots are likely to be the best Louisiana team they've faced all year. Whether or not they can keep it close and challenge the Cougars remains to be seen, but we'll find out Friday night.

SN No. 14 DeMatha [Hyattsville, MD] Stags

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week: SN No. 14

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR Gonzaga [Washington, DC] Eagles (5-3)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — DeMatha 23, NR St. John's [Washington, DC] Cadets 20 (OT) (5-3)
W/L Streak:  18 wins

DeMatha has had two close calls in a row, and it took overtime last week for the Stags to get past the St. John's Cadets in a 23-20 decision. Gonzaga could be another challenging opponent, but ultimately we expect the hosts to find a way to win.

SN No. 15 Mater Dei [Santa Ana, CA] Monarchs

2025 Record: 6-2
Last Week: SN No. 15

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at SN No. 1 St. John Bosco [Bellflower, CA] Braves (9-0)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Mater Dei 40, NR JSerra Catholic [San Juan Capistrano, CA] Lions 7 (3-6)
W/L Streak:  2 wins

As noted above, Mater Dei has been reduced to spoiler for a couple of weeks now, and this is the first time they've entered the regular-season finale against their archrivals with no chance of winning a national title. By all measures, St. John Bosco would appear to be the superior squad, and they even get the home field advantage in this meeting. But it wouldn't be a complete surprise if Mater Dei has saved its best for last, and don't be shocked if the Monarchs take the Braves to the wire and, possibly, emerge with the upset.

SN No. 16 Randle [Richmond, TX] Lions

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week: SN No. 16

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at NR Santa Fe [TX] Indians (5-3)
Last Game: 10/25/2025 — Randle 70, NR Terry [Rosenberg, TX] Rangers 0 (3-5)
W/L Streak:  24 wins

Randle has won its last two games by a cumulative margin of 145-0, and the Lions are, no doubt, one of the best teams in the Lone Star State. They'll face a little more of a challenge this week in the Santa Fe Indians, but another lopsided victory isn't out of the question.

SN No. 17 Aledo [TX] Bearcats

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week: SN No. 17

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR Azle [TX] Hornets (2-6)
Last Game: 10/23/2025 — Aledo 72, NR Richland [North Richland Hills, TX] Royals 10 (6-3)
W/L Streak:  8 wins

Aledo moves up a spot in the Texas rankings jumping over one-loss Duncanville after demolishing the Richland Royals last Thursday night. Richland was 6-2 entering that game so that doesn't bode well for a 2-6 Azle squad that will be lucky to hold Aledo under 50 points.

SN No. 18 Grimsley [Greensboro, NC] Whirlies

2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 18

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at NR Ben L. Smith [Greensboro, NC] Golden Eagles (2-6)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Grimsley 42, NR Dudley [Greensboro, NC] Panthers 14 (6-4)
W/L Streak:  25 wins

The Whirlies won't have any problem getting past the Ben L. Smith Golden Eagles Friday night as they put the wraps on an undefeated regular season.

SN No. 19 Duncanville [TX] Panthers

2025 Record: 5-1
Last Week: SN No. 19

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at NR Mesquite [TX] Skeeters (1-7)
Last Game: 10/23/2025 — Duncanville 40, NR Horn [Mesquite, TX] Jaguars 13 (1-6)
W/L Streak:  4 wins

Duncanville has won four straight games since their shocking 28-27 loss to the Waxahachie [TX] Indians back on September 19, and they'll make it five in row Friday night against a 1-7 Mesquite Skeeters' team.

SN No. 20 South Oak Cliff [Dallas, TX] Bears

2025 Record: 7-1
Last Week: SN No. 20

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — at NR Samuell [Dallas, TX] Spartans (6-2)
Last Game: 10/23/2025 — South Oak Cliff 48, NR Seagoville [Dallas, TX] Dragons 0 (3-5)
W/L Streak:  6 wins

South Oak Cliff has still yet to give up a single point in district play, beating five straight Dallas opponents by a cumulative margin of 268-0. Friday's opponent, the Samuell Spartans, might be the only team left that can find the end zone, but they won't find it enough to beat this focused group of Bears.

SN No. 21 Carrollton [GA] Trojans

2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 22

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR Douglas County [Douglasville, GA] Tigers (6-2)
Last Game: 10/17/2025 — Carrollton 50, NR East Coweta [Sharpsburg, GA] Indians 23 (1-7)
W/L Streak:  9 wins

Carrollton has a big opportunity Friday night to make a statement against a Douglas County team that has spent some time in the national Top 25 this fall. This would be a noteworthy victory, but conversely, it would also be a loss that ends the Trojans' pursuit of a spot in the national Top 10 if they can't find a way to win.

SN No. 22 Don Bosco Prep [Ramsey, NJ] Ironmen

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week: SN No. 22

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR St. Peter's Prep [Jersey City, NJ] Marauders (7-1)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Don Bosco Prep 28, NR Paramus [NJ] Catholic Paladins 0 (3-6)
W/L Streak:  8 wins

Don Bosco Prep has one of its toughest games this Friday to close out the regular season, and the Ironmen have to be careful not to focus on the postseason, yet, before taking care of business against this St. Peter's Prep squad.

SN No. 23 Bixby [OK] Spartans

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week: SN No. 24

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR Deer Creek [Edmond, OK] Antlers (3-5)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Bixby 38, NR Mustang [OK] Broncos 22 (5-3)
W/L Streak:  11 wins

Bixby's 38-22 win over the Mustang Broncos felt surprisingly close for a team coming off a three-game stretch in which it won games by margins of 81-6, 64-7, and 92-0. But even with two losses, Mustang was clearly a step up in competition, and the final score might simply be a reflection of the quality of the Sooner State's best teams, and Bixby, for now, remains the best of the best in Oklahoma. This week's game against Deer Creek won't be close at all.

SN No. 24 Baylor [Chattanooga, TN] Red Raiders

2025 Record: 8-0
Last Week: Unranked

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR Knoxville [TN] Catholic Fighting Irish (5-3)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Baylor 35, NR Ensworth [Nashville, TN] Tigers 21 (6-3)
W/L Streak:  8 wins

After weeks of sitting on the cusp of The SN Top 25, the Red Raiders finally make their debut after a 35-21 win over the Ensworth Tigers. They'll finish an undefeated season this Friday night at home against the 5-3 Knoxville Catholic Fighting Irish.

SN No. 25 Creekside [Fairburn, GA] Seminoles

2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: Unranked

Next Game: 10/31/2025 — vs. NR Midtown [Atlanta, GA] Knights (3-6)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Creekside 44, Jackson [Atlanta, GA] Jaguars 7 (6-3)
W/L Streak:  9 wins

Creekside has been on the national radar since destroying the Top 25 DeSoto Eagles of Texas in a 70-28 blowout back on August 30. That win propelled the Seminoles into some national Top 25 lists, but until now, they've been unable to crack The SN Top 25. But they're here now, and there's plenty of room for this team to climb the rankings with Georgia's GHSA playoffs fast approaching.
