The IMG Academy [Bradenton, FL] Ascenders continue to hold down the top spot in AllSportsPeople High School Football Top 25. But they might not be there for long.
The Ascenders canceled their game against the SN No. 4 St. Frances Academy [Baltimore, MD] Panthers after initially exploring the possibility of moving the game to early December to maximize exposure for a contest that had the potential to decide the national championship.
Then last Friday, IMG Academy abruptly announced they wouldn't be participating in the game at all in an announcement that left most observers who cover high school football for a living shaking their heads. The official reason for canceling was the school's concerns around "player health and safety and the college transition for our seniors" – begging the question of why IMG officials didn't just play the game as originally scheduled last Friday night.
IMG Academy doesn't participate in Florida's postseason so the game against St. Frances Academy was a huge opportunity to make one final statement in the national championship race. A win would have almost certainly sealed the deal for IMG Academy in AllSportsPeople rankings. Without it, the Ascenders are unlikely to hold off the top teams in California, Georgia, and Texas in the weeks to come.
Speculation about IMG Academy's decision immediately filled social media channels and sports websites where commenters accused the Ascenders of ducking their matchup with the Panthers. Not helping IMG's case is the fact that the Ascenders' were blown out, 30-3, in last year's meeting between the two teams which has become one of the high school football season's most anticipated matchups.
The future of the series could even be in doubt based on statements in the aftermath by St. Frances Academy's head coach Messay Hailemariam.
Criticism came from all corners including former NFL wide receiver Torrey Smith who took to social media to call out IMG's decision:
That's not the IMG that I'm familiar with. That is soft as hell! Https://t.co/1DaFIQqYf9
— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) November 7, 2025
IMG officials appeared to acknowledge in their statement that the decision might cost them a national title, stating that the academy's purpose 'extends beyond championships.' It's a lofty statement that might foreshadow the Ascenders' fate because it's unlikely they can hold onto the top spot without a win over St. Frances Academy on their resume.
Understanding the SN Top 25 through transparency
Like any set of rankings, things may not always make sense at first glance, and there are as many approaches to ranking teams as there are selectors. Some rankings are simply a reflection of what has happened to date, and many of these are algorithm-based, subject to wild weekly swings like the Massey Ratings that are part of AllSportsPeople Composite Rankings released on Wednesdays.
Other rankings are more predictive – an attempt to account for what has happened, while attempting to line up teams in a way that will reflect potential future results. SN's approach falls somewhere in line with this way of thinking, and each week we first attempt to rank the teams by resume before considering wins and losses and head-to-head results. No system is perfect, but at least understanding our approach can help understand why we have the teams where we do.
IMG remains No. 1 for now, but the Ascenders will have trouble hanging onto the top spot beyond next week with huge games forthcoming in the California, Georgia, and Texas playoffs.

AllSportsPeople High School Football Top 25
IMG Academy of Bradenton, Florida, clings to the nation's No. 1 position just ahead of Georgia's Grayson at No. 2.
SN No. 1 IMG Academy [Bradenton, FL] Ascenders
2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 1
Next Game: Season has concluded
Last Game: 11/1/2025 — IMG Academy 31, NR Hun [Princeton, NJ] Raiders 13 (7-4)
W/L Streak: 10 wins
IMG Academy was likely one win away from a national title, but the Ascenders backed out of their season finale against the No. 4/SN No. 4 St. Frances Academy [Baltimore, MD] Panthers. They're still No. 1 for now, but with the postseason kicking off in California, Florida, Georgia, and Texas this week, the Ascenders suddenly need a lot of help to hang onto this position.
SN No. 2 Grayson [Loganville, GA] Rams
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 2
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Norcross [GA] Blue Devils (6-4)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Grayson 24, NR Archer [Lawrenceville, GA] Tigers 12 (6-4)
W/L Streak: 24 wins
Grayson is Georgia's defending GHSA Class 6A champion, and now the Rams start the defense of their 2024 title in earnest. They should get one step closer to that goal Friday night against a Norcross squad that will be hard-pressed to keep this game close.
SN No. 3 St. John Bosco [Bellflower, CA] Braves
2025 Record: 9-1
Last Week: SN No. 3
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Orange [CA] Lutheran Lancers (2-8)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — SN No. 15 Mater Dei [Santa Ana, CA] Monarchs 36 (7-2), St. John Bosco 31
W/L Streak: 1 loss
For the first time in at least eight years, there's a very real chance that neither St. John Bosco nor Mater Dei will finish the season with a national championship. Bosco has won two national titles in the past eight years with Mater Dei winning six of its own in that span, but both teams now enter the postseason with at least one loss. In Bosco's case, a successful run through the gauntlet that is California's CIF Southern Section playoffs should allow the Braves to move back into the Top 2 at the very least. But they likely need Grayson to lose somewhere along the way.
SN No. 4 St. Frances Academy [Baltimore, MD] Panthers
2025 Record: 8-1
Last Week: SN No. 4
Next Game: Season has concluded
Last Game: 11/1/2025 — St. Frances Academy 35, The St. James Performance Academy [Springfield, VA] Strivers 0 (8-1)
W/L Streak: 7 wins
Thanks to IMG Academy's shenanigans, St. Frances Academy lost the last big opportunity it needed to make its case for a national championship. With a loss to St. John Bosco ranked ahead of them, the Panthers route to a title is very narrow.
SN No. 5 Centennial [Corona, CA] Huskies
2025 Record: 9-1
Last Week: SN No. 5
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Servite [Anaheim, CA] Friars (6-4)
Last Game: 10/30/2025 — Centennial 60, NR Chaparral [Temecula, CA] Pumas 29 (5-5)
W/L Streak: 8 wins
Centennial looked a little shaky down the regular-season stretch, but maybe the Huskies were looking ahead to this moment. If they get past Servite, it will likely set up a second-round rematch with Mater Dei. Centennial's in a perfect position to continue climbing the rankings if they can win out, but that's easier said than done.
SN No. 6 Buford [GA] Wolves
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 6
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Richmond Hill [[GA] Wildcats (6-4)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Buford 35, NR Mill Creek [Hoschton, GA] Hawks 3 (7-3)
W/L Streak: 10 wins
Buford's path to a possible state title is set as the Wolves will take a week off before facing Richmond Hill on November 14. The Wolves arguably have the best path to the Georgia GHSA Class 6A semifinals as No. 1 Grayson will likely have to face Georgia's No. 3 Carrollton in the quarterfinals while Buford's most significant test likely won't come until the semifinals. That's when the Wolves might meet up with an undefeated McEachern [Powder Springs, GA] Indians' squad.
SN No. 7 Southlake [TX] Carroll Dragons
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 7
Next Game: 11/13/2025 — vs. NR Crowley [TX] Eagles (3-7)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Southlake Carroll 49, NR Keller [TX] Central Chargers (5-3)
W/L Streak: 10 wins
Southlake Carroll enters the Texas UIL Class 6A Division II playoffs undefeated but untested so far. The Dragons' closest regular-season game was a 28-point victory over the Hebron [Carrollton, TX] Hawks in a 35-7 victory more than two months ago on September 5. They aren't likely to be tested in the first two rounds of the playoffs either, but a potential third-round matchup in the regional finals against the Prosper [TX] Eagles looms large in the weeks to come.
SN No. 8 St. Thomas Aquinas [Fort Lauderdale, FL] Raiders
2025 Record: 9-1
Last Week: SN No. 8
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Heritage [Palm Bay, FL] Panthers (4-6)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — St. Thomas Aquinas 27, SN No. 10 Chaminade-Madonna [Hollywood, FL] Lions 21 (7-2)
W/L Streak: 9 wins
The Raiders have a pretty clear path over the next few weeks to advance in Florida's FHSAA Class 5A playoffs. The Atlantic [Delray Beach, FL] Eagles gave the Raiders a fight in the quarterfinals a year ago, eventually succumbing in a 49-42 overtime loss. But this Aquinas team is better than last year's team which lost three games in the regular season, and if they get through Atlantic, then Lakeland might be the waiting for them in the championship game again. And the Raiders steamrolled the Dreadnaughts, 34-0, in last year's title tilt.
SN No. 9 Mater Dei [Santa Ana, CA] Monarchs
2025 Record: 7-2
Last Week: SN No. 9
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Mission Viejo [CA] Diablos (9-1)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Mater Dei 36, SN No. 1 St. John Bosco [Bellflower, CA] Braves 31 (9-1)
W/L Streak: 3 wins
Mater Dei has played to the level of its competition all year, and that could be a problem against a Mission Viejo squad that beat the Santa Margarita team that upset the Monarchs a few weeks ago. But even in the midst of its worst season in over a decade, the Monarchs have still beat two teams ranked No. 1 in the country this year. They're still talented enough to win when they aren't at their best, and we suspect they'll find a way to get past the Diablos.
SN No. 10 Bishop Gorman [Las Vegas, NV] Gaels
2025 Record: 9-1
Last Week: SN No. 10
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Foothill [Henderson, NV] Falcons (7-3)
Last Game: 10/24/2025 — Bishop Gorman 43, NR Shadow Ridge [Las Vegas, NV] Mustangs 0 (8-2)
W/L Streak: 5 wins
It's been three weeks since Bishop Gorman took the field, and they'll finally get back to action Friday night in Nevada's Open Division semifinals. The Gaels won't have any problem getting past Foothill, and they should put the wraps on another state championship on November 25 against the winner of the Liberty [Henderson, NV] Patriots and the Arbor View [Las Vegas, NV] Aggies. Unfortunately for the Gaels, it isn't a lineup that will allow them to climb back into the national title picture due to their loss to Mater Dei at home earlier in the season.
SN No. 11 Sierra Canyon [Chatsworth, CA] Trailblazers
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 11
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Santa Margarita [Rancho Santa Margarita, CA] Eagles (7-3)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Sierra Canyon 52, NR Loyola [Los Angeles, CA] Cubs 3 (4-6)
W/L Streak: 10 wins
Sierra Canyon navigated the regular season successfully, and now the undefeated Trailblazers will face their stiffest test of the season against the Santa Margarita Eagles. Don't be surprised if the Eagles pull the upset in this one.
SN No. 12 Allen [TX] Eagles
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 12
Next Game: 11/13/2025 — vs. NR Lewisville [TX] Farmers (8-2)
Last Game: 11/6/2025 — Allen 45, NR Plano [TX] East Panthers 6 (2-8)
W/L Streak: 10 wins
Among the top-ranked Class 6A teams in Texas, Allen got one of the tougher first-round draws against an 8-2 Lewisville squad that was briefly ranked in The SN Composite Rankings earlier this season. The Eagles should be the better team by a pretty good margin, but if they catch the Farmers at their best, then this game could be well into the second half before it's decided.
SN No. 13 Edna Karr [New Orleans, LA] Cougars
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 13
Next Game: 11/21/2025 — TBA
Last Game: 11/6/2025 — Edna Karr 35, NR Archbishop Rummel [Metairie, LA] Raiders 14 (6-4)
W/L Streak: 24 wins
Edna Karr finished the regular season unbeaten as expected, and now Louisiana's top-ranked team takes a bye, awaiting the winner of the McDonogh 35 [New Orleans, LA] Roneagles and the Jesuit [New Orleans, LA] Blue Jays – two teams the Cougars combined to beat in the regular season by cumulative margin of 104-0.
SN No. 14 DeMatha [Hyattsville, MD] Stags
2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 14
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR St. John's [Washington, DC] Cadets (6-4)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — DeMatha 42, NR Gonzaga [Washington, DC] Eagles 14 (5-4)
W/L Streak: 19 wins
This one could be fun. DeMatha barely survived its first meeting with St. John's three weeks ago, emerging victorious in overtime by a 23-20 count. They certainly won't have any good reason to overlook the Cadets who are better than their 6-4 record would indicate.
SN No. 15 Randle [Richmond, TX] Lions
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 15
Next Game: 11/13/2025 — vs. NR Ellison [Killeen, TX] Eagles (5-5)
Last Game: 11/8/2025 — Randle 56, NR Lamar Consolidated [Rosenberg, TX] Mustangs 7 (3-7)
W/L Streak: 26 wins
Randle isn't ranked anywhere other than The SN Top 25 at the moment, but that could change if they keep winning in the Texas UIL Class 5A Division II playoffs. And with 26 consecutive wins and counting, who are we to doubt them? The only potential concern heading into their playoff opener Thursday night against the 5-5 Ellison Eagles is the fact that they are playing just five days after wrapping up the regular season on Saturday afternoon. But that's more a minor inconvenience than a major concern, and the Lions should keep on rolling for now.
SN No. 16 Aledo [TX] Bearcats
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 16
Next Game: 11/13/2025 — vs. NR Saginaw [TX] Rough Riders (7-3)
Last Game: 11/6/2025 — Aledo 77, NR Denton [TX] Broncos 0 (4-6)
W/L Streak: 10 wins
Aledo appears to be hitting its peak heading into the Texas UIL Class 5A Division I playoffs, and they are likely to go unchallenged until the state quarterfinals where a rematch with the Ryan [Denton, TX] Raiders might be in the cards. Aledo survived a visit to Ryan in a 15-14 come-from-behind road win on October 3, and the thought of a rematch is enticing. There might not be anybody else standing in their way.
SN No. 17 Grimsley [Greensboro, NC] Whirlies
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 17
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR West Cabarrus [Concord, NC] Wolverines
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Grimsley 45, NR Ben L. Smith [Greensboro, NC] Golden Eagles (2-6)
W/L Streak: 26 wins
Grimsley earned a bye in last week's opening round of North Carolina's NCHSAA Class 7A playoffs, but they get back to business this week in a second-round matchup against West Cabarrus. They should make quick work of the Wolverines while advancing to the third round of the postseason.
SN No. 18 Duncanville [TX] Panthers
2025 Record: 7-1
Last Week: SN No. 18
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Temple [TX] Wildcats (7-3)
Last Game: 11/6/2025 — Duncanville 29, NR Cedar Hill [TX] Longhorns 0 (6-4)
W/L Streak: 6 wins
Duncanville heads into the Texas UIL Class 6A Division I playoffs having played two fewer games than just about anybody else in the postseason. While that may have been a bit of a disadvantage early on – and may have played a role in the Panthers' 28-27 setback at the Waxahachie [TX] Indians early in the season – it could actually be an advantage now as Duncanville might be a little fresher for a long postseason run. They should make it past Temple to set up an intriguing second-round matchup against the winner of the Rockwall [TX]-Heath Hawks and the undefeated Wylie [TX] East Raiders.
SN No. 19 South Oak Cliff [Dallas, TX] Bears
2025 Record: 9-1
Last Week: SN No. 19
Next Game: 11/13/2025 — vs. NR Crandall [TX] Pirates (7-3)
Last Game: 11/6/2025 — South Oak Cliff NR Jefferson [Dallas, TX] Patriots (1-8)
W/L Streak: 8 wins
South Oak Cliff hasn't allowed a single point since defeating the Longview [TX] Lobos, 20-17, two months ago on September 12. The Bears breezed through seven straight Dallas opponents, winning by a cumulative total of 371-0. They figure to be safe through the first few rounds of the Texas UIL Class 5A Division II playoffs, starting with what should be a win over the Crandall Pirates Thursday night.
SN No. 20 Carrollton [GA] Trojans
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 20
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR North Forsyth [Cumming, GA] Raiders (6-4)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Carrollton 55, NR Douglas County [Douglasville, GA] Tigers 22 (6-3)
W/L Streak: 10 wins
The Trojans only need to navigate the first two rounds of Georgia's GHSA Class 6A playoffs to set up what could potentially be a quarterfinal matchup against Georgia's No. 1 Grayson on November 28. That should make things a little more interesting in the weeks to come.
SN No. 21 Don Bosco Prep [Ramsey, NJ] Ironmen
2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: SN No. 21
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Seton Hall Prep [West Orange, NJ] Pirates (3-6)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Don Bosco Prep 31, NR St. Peter's Prep [Jersey City, NJ] Marauders 6 (7-2)
W/L Streak: 9 wins
The Ironmen finished the regular season with a 31-6 statement win over the 7-1 St. Peter's Prep Marauders, and now they kick off New Jersey's NJSIAA Non-Public A playoffs against Seton Hall Prep – a team they beat 40-7 on October 18.
SN No. 22 Bixby [OK] Spartans
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: SN No. 22
Next Game: 11/21/2025 — vs. TBA
Last Game: 11/7/2025 — Bixby 72, NR Norman [OK] Tigers 3 (6-4)
W/L Streak: 13 wins
Bixby won its 10 regular-season games by an average score of 65.4 to 12.3. They earned a bye in Oklahoma's OSSAA Class 6A-I playoffs, and they await the winner of the Union [Tulsa, OK] Redhawks and the Norman [OK] Tigers. They just beat Norman, 72-3, last Friday night, but a rematch with the 6-4 Tigers still might be the better alternative considering Union is just 4-6. Bixby has topped the 80-point mark twice this season, including a 92-0 rout of the Enid [OK] Plainsmen back on October 16, and there doesn't appear to be any serious resistance in line, at least until a possible championship game against the Jenks [OK] Trojans on December 6.
SN No. 23 Baylor [Chattanooga, TN] Red Raiders
2025 Record: 9-0
Last Week: No. 23
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Knoxville [TN] Catholic Fighting Irish (6-4)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Baylor 49, NR Knoxville [TN] Catholic Fighting Irish 28 (6-4)
W/L Streak: 9 wins
Baylor defeated Knoxville Catholic two weeks ago, 49-28, to earn a first-round bye in Tennessee's TSSAA Division II Class AAA playoffs. Now, after a week off, the Red Raiders are preparing to face that same Fighting Irish squad in the quarterfinals with a possible rematch against the McCallie [Chattanooga, TN] Blue Tornado looming in the semifinals. Baylor won the first meeting, 38-35, between the two Chattanooga rivals in one of the season's most exciting games to date.
SN No. 24 Creekside [Fairburn, GA] Seminoles
2025 Record: 10-0
Last Week: No. 24
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Dalton [GA] Catamounts (3-7)
Last Game: 10/31/2025 — Creekside 79, NR Midtown [Atlanta, GA] Knights 3 (3-7)
W/L Streak: 10 wins
Creekside has dominated the competition all year long in Georgia, and the Seminoles got a rest last week to prepare for Georgia's GHSA Class 4A playoffs where they should make quick work of the 3-7 Dalton Catamounts.
SN No. 25 Clay-Chalkville [Pinson, AL] Cougars
2025 Record: 11-0
Last Week: Unranked
Next Game: 11/14/2025 — vs. NR Gadsden [AL] City Titans (8-3)
Last Game: 11/6/2025 — Clay-Chalkville 49, NR Jackson-Olin [Birmingham, AL] Mustangs 26 (4-7)
W/L Streak: 11 wins
Clay-Chalkville has been the dominant team in Alabama prep football this season, and the Cougars should keep right on rolling in the second round of the AHSAA Class 6A playoffs against the Gadsden City Titans.
