Southlake Carroll fell one win short of an undefeated season and a state title.

The Dragons now attempt to finish the job in 2025, beginning with Friday night's season opener. They kick off a new season at Midland on Friday night.

Last season, SLC won its first 15 ballgames before falling to Austin Vandegrift in the UIL 6A Division II title game. The Dragons return 19 total starters. Midland, meanwhile, finished 8-4 a season ago but the Bulldogs are bringing back just two starters on both sides of the ball.

POSTGAME

- After a weather delay of an hour and a half, it was all Southlake Carroll as the Dragons roll past Midland on the road. 

FOURTH QUARTER

- TOUCHDOWN SOUTHLAKE CARROLL. Dragons tack on another score with less than a minute to go, as Emerson Ziadie goes in from 3 yards out. (SLC, 49-0 | :54, 4th)  

- TOUCHDOWN SOUTHLAKE CARROLL. Midland put together a long drive before turning it over on downs at the SLC 20. Dragons then go 80 yards in nine plays, ending with a 14-yard pass from Angelo Renda to Blake Gunter. (SLC, 42-0 | 7:55, 4th)

THIRD QUARTER

- TOUCHDOWN SOUTHLAKE CARROLL. Another Dragon TD from Brooks Biggers, the latest on a 2-yard run. Biggers now has 106 yards and a pair of TDs, and also caught a 24-yard pass to set up his latest TD. (SLC, 35-0 | 6:38, 3rd)

HALFTIME

- Southlake Carroll rolling at the half. Dragons held Midland to three first downs in the opening half. 

SECOND QUARTER

- TOUCHDOWN SOUTHLAKE CARROLL. All Dragons tonight. Brooks Biggers runs it in from 3 yards out, and now has 82 yards on 10 carries. (SLC, 28-0 | 1:47, 2nd)

- TOUCHDOWN SOUTHLAKE CARROLL. On a third-and-3 from the Midland 42, Harrison Phillips finds a gaping hole and takes it in to extend the Dragons' advantage 10 seconds into the second quarter. (SLC, 21-0 | 11:50, 2nd) 

FIRST QUARTER

- TOUCHDOWN SOUTHLAKE CARROLL. Dragons strike again, as Angelo Renda throws his second TD pass, a 28-yarder to Blake Gunter on a drive set up by a 35-yard punt return from Parker Harris. (SLC, 14-0 | 6:12, 1st) 

- TOUCHDOWN SOUTHLAKE CARROLL. Dragons score pretty quick, as Pitt commit Angelo Renda throws a 32-yard TD pass to Ohio State commit Brock Boyd, who had three receptions for 52 yards on the drive. (SLC, 7-0 | 10:04, 1st)
