The Allen Eagles moved up to No. 3 in this week's Texas top 25 rankings.

Week 5 of the Texas high school football regular season was largely free of big-time upsets, unlike the previous week.

Our No. 2 team, Richmond Randle, avoided falling victim to Iowa Colony by hanging on for a seven-point victory. The Pioneers lost, 49-42, but they enter our rankings at No. 24 this week.

Waco La Vega and Waxahachie fell out of the top 25 after both teams suffered losses to Stephenville and DeSoto, respectively. Following the huge 64-28 victory over La Vega, the Yellow Jackets enter our rankings at No. 25.

Top-ranked Southlake Carroll continues to look like a juggernaut, as does Allen, which moved up to No. 3 after thumping McKinney, 62-0.

We could have some serious shake-up next week as No. 6 Aledo plays at No. 13 Denton Ryan, which eliminated the Bearcats from last season’s playoffs.

Here are our new weekly rankings:

No. 1 Southlake Carroll Dragons (4-0, 2-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, Keller, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/25/25, Southlake Carroll 55, Keller Timber Creek 13
W/L Streak: 5 wins
Previous ranking: 1

The Dragons are simply on another level in 2025. Through four games, Southlake Carroll has outscored its opponents, 235-29. Star quarterback and Pittsburgh commit Angelo Renda has thrown for 1,404 yards and 15 TD’s with just three INT’s. Expect Carroll to hold onto the top spot for the foreseeable future.

No. 2 Richmond Randle Lions (5-0, 2-0)

Next Game: 10/10/25, at Texas City, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/25/25, Richmond Randle 49, Iowa Colony 42
W/L Streak: 21 wins
Previous ranking: 2

Whew. The Lions survived a scare last week by holding off Iowa Colony, 49-42. Junior running back Landen Williams-Callis was incredible again for the defending state champs, rushing for 342 yards and six touchdowns. Randle, which has a bye this week, beat Iowa Colony twice last season. Those teams could easily meet again in the playoff this year.

No. 3 Allen Eagles (5-0, 3-0)

Next Game: 10/10/25, at Princeton, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, Allen 62, McKinney 0
W/L Streak: 5 wins
Previous ranking: 5

Another juggernaut this season, Allen has outscored its opponents, 272-27. The Eagles have three shutouts in their last four games. Following a bye this week and district contests at Princeton and at home against Plano West, Allen visits No. 8 Prosper on Oct. 24. Stay tuned.

No. 4 Duncanville Panthers (2-1, 1-1)

Next Game: 10/10/25, DeSoto, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, Duncanville 50, Dallas Skyline 3
W/L Streak: 1 win
Previous ranking: 3

After losing to Waxahachie in Week 4, our former No. 1 team righted the ship by steamrolling Dallas Skyline. Now, Duncanville has a bye week to get ready for a showdown with DeSoto on Oct. 10. The Eagles, who are also off this week, are coming off a huge 40-17 victory over that same Waxahachie team.

No. 5 Dallas South Oak Cliff Golden Bears (4-1, 2-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, Dallas Hillcrest, 7:30 p.m.
Last Game: 9/25/25, Dallas South Oak Cliff 44, Dallas Adamson 0
W/L Streak: 3 wins
Previous ranking: 4

SOC is back to district play, which means dominance by the Golden Bears. Through two District 5-5A Division II games this season, SOC has posted shutout wins over Dallas Spruce (59-0) and Dallas Adamson (44-0). In 2024, the Golden Bears gave up a total of seven points in seven district games.

No. 6 Aledo Bearcats (5-0, 3-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, at Denton Ryan, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, Aledo 56, Keller Fossil Ridge 14
W/L Streak: 5 wins
Previous ranking: 6

Aledo easily ran its national-record district win streak to 130 straight games last week with a 56-14 victory. No. 131 might not be so simple. The Bearcats head to Denton this week to battle No. 13 Denton Ryan, which eliminated Aledo from last year’s playoffs. The 12-time state champion Bearcats have not lost a district game since 2007.

No. 7 North Crowley Panthers (4-1, 1-0)

Next Game: 10/9/25, at Mansfield Lake Ridge, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, North Crowley 68, Mansfield Legacy 0
W/L Streak: 1 win
Previous ranking: 7

That’s more like it. After losing at home to Rockwall in Week 4, the defending Class 6A Division I state champions returned to last year’s form by crushing Mansfield Legacy to open District 3-6A play. North Crowley has a bye this week before resuming district play with a big one at Mansfield Lake Ridge (3-1) on Oct. 9.

No. 8 Prosper Eagles (4-0, 2-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, at Prosper Rock Hill, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, Prosper 48, Plano East 20
W/L Streak: 4 wins
Previous Ranking: 12

The Eagles notched another big win by cruising past Plano East last week. Prosper continues District 6-6A play at Prosper Rock Hill on Friday. The Eagles opened the season with impressive back-to-back wins over No. 12 Austin Westlake and Rockwall-Heath.

No. 9 Galena Park North Shore Mustangs (3-1, 1-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, Kingwood, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/25/25, Galena Park North Shore 34, Humble 6
W/L Streak: 3 wins
Previous ranking: 10

Since giving up 41 points in a season-opening loss to No. 5 Dallas South Oak Cliff, the North Shore defense has been dominant. The Mustangs have surrendered just six points in wins over Crowley, Spring Westfield and Humble. North Shore looks to keep that trend going against Kingwood on Friday.

No. 10 Carthage Bulldogs (4-0, 0-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, vs. San Benito (at Bay City), 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, Carthage 42, Jasper 0
W/L Streak: 19 wins
Previous ranking: 9

The defending state champs are racking up the mileage this season. Following last week’s 42-0 victory at Jasper, Carthage looks to remain unbeaten with another long road trip to Bay City to battle San Benito in a neutral-site game. Jasper is 234 miles from Carthage, while Bay City is 269 miles away.

No. 11 Celina Bobcats (5-0, 1-0)

Last Game: 9/26/25, Celina 35, Frisco Panther Creek 28
W/L Streak: 21 wins
Previous ranking: 8

The Bobcats have been living dangerously the last two weeks. Following an 11-point win over Franklin, Celina held off Frisco Panther Creek by one touchdown last week. The defending Class 4A Division I state champs have won 21 straight games. Celina has a big game at unbeaten Sulphur Springs looming on Oct. 10.

No. 12 Austin Westlake Chaparrals (3-1, 0-0)

Next Game: 10/2/25, at Austin Akins, 7:30 p.m.
Last Game: 9/19/25, Austin Westlake 37, Cibolo Steele 14
W/L Streak: 3 wins
Previous ranking: 11

The Chapparals are coming off a bye week following a solid victory over Cibolo Steele in their home opener. Now, Westlake opens District 26-6A play at Austin Akins. The Chaps should cruise through the next three weeks before getting No. 22 Lake Travis and No. 20 Dripping Springs in the final three weeks of the regular season.

No. 13 Denton Ryan Raiders (4-0, 2-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, Aledo, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, Denton Ryan 41, Granbury 0
W/L Streak: 4 wins
Previous ranking: 15

Can the Raiders end No. 6 Aledo’s 130-game district winning streak? Maybe. The Raiders recovered from a slow start to the season on offense by scoring 41 and 43 points in their last two games. Ryan’s defense has given up just 46 points in four games. Seven Raiders have 20 or more tackles this season, led by Demari Ruth with 34.

No. 14. Frisco Lone Star Rangers (5-0, 3-0)

Sophomore quarterback Trey Wright is putting up silly numbers. He has thrown for 1,077 yards with 13 TD’s and one interception and rushed for 550 yards and six more scores.

No. 15 Canyon West Plains Wolves (4-0, 0-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, at Argyle Liberty Christian, 6:30 p.m.
Last Game: 9/19/25, Canyon West Plains 45, Bushland 0
W/L Streak: 4 wins
Previous ranking: 17

The Wolves are coming off a bye week with a long trip to the Dallas/Fort Worth area to take on Argyle Liberty Christian. The Warriors, coached by former Dallas Cowboy Jason Witten, are the defending TAPPS Division 1 state champions. Liberty won last year’s meeting, 56-7, so the game will be a big test for West Plains, which has already avenged two of its four losses from 2024 this season.

No. 16 Highland Park Scots (4-1, 1-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, Red Oak, 7 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, Highland Park 70, Tyler 66

Previous ranking: 19

Gunter continued its dominance in district play by opening with a 43-point victory over Bells. The three-time defending Class 3A Division II state champions gave up just 34 points in rolling to last year’s District 7-3A Division II title. Three of Gunter’s final five games of the regular season are on the road.

No. 18 Kilgore Bulldogs (4-1, 1-0)

Next Game: 10/3/25, at Henderson, 7:30 p.m.
Last Game: 9/26/25, Kilgore 35, Longview Pine Tree 7
W/L Streak: 4 wins
Previous ranking: 20

Since a season-opening loss to Carthage, Kilgore has been on a mission. The Bulldogs have surrendered a total of 33 points in the last four games combined. Following this week’s game at Henderson, Kilgore has a pair of big games — at home against Tyler Chapel Hill (Oct. 10) and at Lindale (Oct. 17).

No. 19 Argyle Eagles (3-1, 2-0)

Junior QB1 Chase Ames has thrown for 1,196 yards and 17 touchdowns with three interceptions. The Tigers play No. 22 Lake Travis (Oct. 17) and No. 12 Austin Westlake (Nov. 7) in two of their final three games.

No. 21 Humble Summer Creek Bulldogs (4-0, 1-0)

Next game: 10/3/25, at Humble Atascocita, 7 p.m.
Last game: 9/26/25, Humble Summer Creek 73, Channelview 0
W/L streak: 4 wins
Previous ranking: 23

The Bulldogs have throttled their last two opponents — Spring and Channelview — to the tune of 78-0 and 73-0. This week, however, Humble Summer Creek gets a tough test at Humble Atascocita. The Eagles are coming off their second straight loss, a 70-55 setback at the hands of Houston C.E. King, but are still a dangerous team.

No. 22 Lake Travis Cavaliers (5-0, 1-0)

Next game: 10/10/25, at Del Valle, 7 p.m.
Last game: 9/25/25, Lake Travis 63, Austin Bowie 21

Last game: 9/26/25, Brenham 49, Gilmer 7
W/L streak: 5 wins
Previous ranking: 25

Brenham continues to get better and better as the season progresses. Last week, the Cubs ventured behind the East Texas pine curtain and throttled Gilmer, 49-7. Brenham opens District 10-5A Division II play at Waco this week. Senior receiver Chris Guidry has 26 catches for 498 yards and 10 touchdowns.

No. 24 Iowa Colony Pioneers (4-1, 1-1)

Last game: 9/25/25, Richmond Randle 49, Iowa Colony 42
W/L streak: 1 loss
Previous ranking: NR

How do you break into the top 25 following a loss? By nearly ending No. 2 Richmond Randle’s 20-game winning streak. The Pioneers came up just short of knocking off the defending Class 5A Division II state champs, 49-42. Sophomore running back Aaron Tenner has 556 yards and five touchdowns on 68 carries (8.2 yards per carry).

No. 25 Stephenville Yellow Jackets (5-0, 0-0)
