There are no head-to-head matchups between two teams both ranked in The Sporting News High School Football Top 25 this week, but there are a trio of games that stand above all the others on the schedule.
One of those is The Sporting News High School Football Game of the Week between the Gainesville [GA] Red Elephants and the No. 16/SN No. 14 Milton Eagles. While Gainesville isn't in the national rankings, they are currently ranked in the Top 10 in Georgia, and they enter Friday night as one of the few teams potentially capable of pulling an upset against a team ranked in the SN Top 25 this week.
Meanwhile, out in California, the Trinity League almost always serves up a matchup that's worthy of national attention. This week, its two teams ranked in the Top 25 of The Sporting News Composite Rankings as the No. 22 Santa Margarita [Rancho Santa Margarita, CA] Eagles visit the No. 5/SN No. 4 Mater Dei [Santa Ana, CA] Monarchs.
Then, finally, down in Texas, one of the Lone Star State's most notable annual rivalries is renewed as the unranked but fast-rising DeSoto [TX] Eagles make the 20-minute bus ride to Duncanville to take on the No. 26/SN No. 20 Duncanville [TX] Panthers.
