National Week 14 high school football schedule & scoreboard: complete results from the nation's top games image

The postseason is kicking off this week in the "Big 4" states of California, Florida, Georgia, and Texas.

The unranked Orange [CA] Lutheran Lancers' 20-19 win over the No. 3/SN No. 3 St. John Bosco [Bellflower, CA] Braves rocked the national high school football landscape Friday night.

And while the No. 17 Santa Margarita [Rancho Santa Margarita, CA] Eagles' 21-9 win over the No. 10/SN No. 11 Sierra Canyon [Chatsworth, CA] Trailblazers in AllSportsPeople High School Football Game of the Week wasn't an upset on that level, it still added to the intrigue. The two results not only shook up California's postseason picture, but they also impacted the national title scene as both of the losers in those games were among the eight teams still being considered for the title of The Sporting New High School Football National Champion.

Ultimately, the losses by two of California's top-ranked teams leaves only one team from the Golden State still capable of mounting a serious run at the national championship. The No. 7/SN No. 5 Centennial [Corona, CA] Huskies would need to win out while getting some help in Georgia where the No. 2/SN No. 2 Grayson [Loganville, GA] Rams hold the inside track in the race to the national championship as long as they continue to win. And the Buford [GA] Wolves can still mount a serious challenge for the title as well with a potential matchup against Grayson potentially looming in the Peach State's Class 6A title game.

So, while a couple of teams exited the national title conversation Friday night, there's still plenty of intrigue, and those results also benefitted our Texas contingent comprised of the No. 8/SN No. 7 Southlake [T] Carroll Dragons and No. 13/SN No. 12 Allen [TX] Eagles. Now those teams from the Lone Star State need a similar result in Georgia in the weeks to come to open up their path even further.
