At last, it’s playoff football season in Louisiana.

Beginning this week, high school teams from all corners of “The Pelican State” now start its postseason journey, one each squad hopes culminates with a trip to the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, site of the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Prep Classic.

One team that is seeking to repeat on the Superdome turf is New Orleans-based school Edna Karr, which received the top seed in the Division I Select bracket. The Cougars, last season’s Division I Select champions, enter the playoffs at 10-0 and were ranked No. 13 in the recent edition of AllSportsPeople Top 25 national rankings.

The top seed in Division I Non-Select is Ruston, which won the title two seasons ago and returned to New Orleans last season, but lost in the Division I Non-Select title game. The Bearcats come in at 8-2, having played a tough schedule which included several out-of-state schools.

North DeSoto, which went a perfect 10-0 in the regular season, received the top seed in Division II Non-Select, while the top seed in Division II Select goes to St. Charles, which is 9-1 entering postseason play.

We’ll update the brackets here each week for Louisiana’s top two divisions as the playoffs get under way.
