OWASSO, Okla. - Anytime Jenks and Owasso play, it is guaranteed to be a great matchup.
Friday night in Owasso was a great one, as Jenks defeated Owasso 31-21, after trailing by two touchdowns late in the second quarter. The momentum swung when Owasso led 21-7 and faked a punt deep in their own territory, giving Jenks a 26 yard field. Jenks took advantage, and scored a touchdown, making it 21-14 right before halftime. Jenks shut out the Rams in the second half, scoring 17 points. Jenks coach Adam Gaylor said he was not surprised when Owasso coach Bill Blankenship decided to roll the dice in the first half, which ended up flipping the script.
"Shoutout to our defensive cordinator Landis Morris for having our players ready for this," Gaylor said. "Coach Blankenship is agressive, and I loved the call regardless of what would have happened next. Luckily, it went our way and we did a great job scoring on the short field."
Jenks improves to 2-0 and will play at 7 p.m., Friday Sept. 12 at Jenks.
Owasso falls to 0-2 and will play at 7 p.m., Friday Sept. 12 and will host Sand Springs.
