The Hawks (1-0) are coming off an impressive season-opening win themselves, defeating Dallas Jesuit, 31-3. Quarterback Brady Brock was 14-of-22 passing for 213 yards and one TD while adding another TD on the ground. Tailback Ayson McCray-Jones rushed for 84 yards and two TDs.
Southlake Carroll (1-0) won its opener last week, 49-0, at Midland in a game that had kickoff delayed for nearly an hour and a half due to inclement weather. But once the Dragons hit the field, they played like the team many people have high hopes for in 2025.
Quarterback and Pitt commit Angelo Renda completed 16-of-24 passes for 248 yards and three TDs for the Dragons - ranked No. 3 in the latest The Sporting News Texas Top 25 poll. Also for SLC last week, junior tailback Brooks Biggers rushed for 103 yards and two scores and receivers Brock Boyd (an Ohio State commit) and Blake Gunter combined for 11 catches, 176 yards and three TDs.
