Two teams that played in last season’s Oklahoma Class 6A-I semifinals collide Thursday night in an important district game.

Edmond Memorial travels to the Tulsa metropolitan area to take on Owasso in a pivotal District 6A-I-2 matchup. Owasso's Rams currently is in first place in the district, while Edmond Memorial is part of a four-way tie for second.

The Bulldogs - who lost to Bixby in last season’s 6A-I semifinals, enter Thursday’s game at 5-1 overall, with their only loss coming in a 49-48 overtime decision to Norman North in the district opener. Since then, Memorial (2-1 in district) has posted two straight convincing wins, the latest a 37-13 triumph against Yukon.

Owasso (4-2, 3-0) has rebounded nicely from an 0-2 start, albeit with those two losses coming to perhaps the best two teams in the state in Bixby and Jenks. The Rams went undefeated in the regular season last year and beat Jenks in the semifinals before falling to Bixby in the 6A-I title game when the Spartans successfully converted a game-winning two-point conversion.

Thursday’s game also features a pair of two of the top quarterbacks in the state. Memorial senior Dawson Beaulieu has thrown for nearly 1,100 yards and 15 TDs, while his counterpart, Owasso junior Drew Frankenfield, has thrown for 949 yards and nine scores.

The Rams also feature other playmakers in running back Jayden Hall (951 yards and 10 TDs) and receivers Julius Wilson and Tae Bethel, who have combined for more than 700 yards and 10 TDs.

In last week’s Edmond Memorial win, Nick Booker, who has rushed for 450 yards and seven scores, shifted to receiver and ended up catching three passes for 90 yards and two TDs.
