The running backs class this season in Oklahoma features many outstanding running backs, highlighted by four-star recruit Kaydin (KD) Jones, an Oklahoma State commit who has started at Jenks (and Broken Arrow prior to that) as an underclassman.
Kaydin (KD) Jones, Jenks, Sr. (Oklahoma State commit)
Jones, a four-star recruit and Oklahoma State commit, helped the Trojans reach the Class 6AI semifinals, defeating rival Tulsa Union in the quarterfinals. Jones is a three-year starter and rushed for 1,476 yards and 17 touchdowns during his junior year. He also is the son of former Oklahoma running back Kejuan Jones.
Kenny Golston, Valiant - Senior (Idaho commit)
Golston, a three-star recruit and University of Idaho commit, led the Bulldogs to their first playoff appearance since 2020. During his junior season, he rushed for 1,121 yards and scored 23 rushing touchdowns.
Jayson Moll, Bixby, Sr.
Moll played for Owasso last season, and averaged 8.3 yards per carry. He also rushed for 1,014 yards and scored 15 rushing touchdowns. Moll also caught two touchdowns through the air. Now, he's playing for the team that beat the Rams in last season's 6AI title game.
Octavian Roberson, Broken Arrow, Jr.
As a sophomore, Roberson scored 16 touchdowns and rushed for 1,102 yards on 74 carries. Roberson is looking to help the Tigers get back to competing at the top of Class 6AI this season.
Delijah Matthews, Midwest City Carl Albert, Jr.
Matthews is an outstanding tailback and helped the Titans win their eighth state championship in nine years. As a sophomore, Matthews averaged eight yards a carry, and has many Division I offers.
Jayden Hall, Owasso, Sr.
Hall is an experienced player with the Rams, and scored the game-winning touchdown against Jenks in the Class 6AI semifinals last season. He has scored 30 touchdowns and rushed for 2,203 yards.
Brock Heilmann, Coweta, Jr.
Heilmann racked up more than 1,500 yards rushing and scored 15 touchdowns as a sophomore. He has several offers currently and likely will pick up many more during his junior season.
Scott Rigby, Collinsville, Sr.
Rigby scored 29 touchdowns last season, and rushed for 1,549 yards. During his career as a Cardinal, Rigby has scored 41 touchdowns and rushed for 2,677 yards.
Anthony Keys, Oklahoma City Millwood, Jr.
Keys made so many plays as a sophomore for the Falcons. Last season, he rushed for 1,456 yards and scored 25 touchdowns. He also tallied 300 yards in receiving, totaling 1,756 yards.
Justin Palacios, Hooker, Jr.
Palacios has started for the Bulldogs since his freshman year, and got them to two Class A state runner-up finishes. He has scored 43 rushing touchdowns, and ran for 3,613 yards in his two seasons as an underclassman.
T.J. Bradford, Newcastle, Sr.
Bradford played a huge role in Newcastle reaching the Class 5A semifinals last season. He holds the all-time rushing yards and touchdown record for Newcastle. Going into his senior year, he has rushed for 3,148 yards and scored 38 touchdowns.
Mayor Morgan, Choctaw - Sr.
Morgan helped Choctaw win its second football state championship, which had not been done since 1960. Morgan scored 21 touchdowns and rushed for 1,216 yard during his junior year.
Masyn Wright, Vian - Sr.
Wright was a major reason the Wolverines were Class 2AII runners-up. He rushed for 2,100 yards last season, and scored 36 touchdowns last season. He is looking to lead Vian to a Class 2AII gold ball this season.
Lemar Davis, Edmond Deer Creek, Sr.
Davis came to Deer Creek in 2024, after transferring from OKC Millwood in 2023. At Deer Creek last year, he got solid reps with six touchdowns and 800 yards rushing learning the Antlers' system. Davis is looking for a breakout senior year.
Tay Perry, Tulsa Union, Sr.
As a junior for the Redhawks, Perry rushed for 1,038 yards and scored nine rushing touchdowns. Perry made some plays with his hands too, as he scored five touchdowns catching the ball.
Mykah Washington, Tulsa Booker T. Washington, Sr.
Washington scored 17 rushing touchdowns for the Hornets and rushed for 1,007 yards. He also caught two touchdown passes and helped lead the Hornets to a district title.
Noah Goodwin, Rejoice Christian, Sr.
Goodwin is from Alaska and played a huge role in helping the Eagles win the Class A-1 state title game over Hooker. He scored three touchdowns in that game, and rushed for 1,334 yards in the season as a whole.
Ritson Meyer, Elgin, Sr.
Meyer helped the Owls win the Class 4A championship game over Tuttle, and they completed a 14-0 season. Meyer put the team on his back, scoring three touchdowns for a 29-22 victory.
Shawn Rounasville Jr., Tuttle, Sr.
Rounasville Jr. had an incredible junior season, with 1,500 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns. He led the Tigers to a state runner-up season before losing to Elgin in the Class 4A finals.
Jordan Clark, McAlester, Sr.
As a junior, Clark was a difference maker for the Buffaloes. He scored 11 rushing touchdowns and ran for 1,167 yards. He is expected to be the leader of the Buffaloes and is ready for a deep playoff run.
Tucker Garza, Elk City, Sr.
Garza is a three-year starter, and played often as a freshman. Garza is ready to have another great year and help the Elks make a deep playoff run. As a junior, he rushed for 1,245 yards and scored 12 touchdowns.
Wylie Heinsohn, Thomas-Fay-Custer, Sr.
Heinsohn is going into his senior year looking to bring the Class AII gold ball back to Thomas. The Terriers are a pass-first team, but that did not stop him from scoring nine touchdowns and rushing for 852 yards.
Darren Hester, Clinton, Sr.
Hester is an experienced tailback who has played multiple positions since his freshman year. But in the backfield last year as a junior, he rushed for 11 touchdowns and 1,006 yards. He also caught 30 passes for 685 yards and seven touchdowns.
Levi Jensen, Sapulpa, Sr.
Jensen is poised for a big senior year. He split reps last season, but when he played, he scored 10 touchdowns and rushed for 725 yards.
Spencer Perry, Poteau, Sr.
Despite missing six games last season, Perry managed to score eight touchdowns and rushed for 800 yards. Perry looks for a great senior season and to bring the Pirates back to the top of Class 4A.
Jackson Harris, Sallisaw, Sr.
Harris split time between running back and quarterback last season and accounted for 1,680 total yards - with exactly 1,000 of those yards coming on the ground along with scoring nine TDs for a Black Diamonds' squad that reached the 4A quarterfinals for the second consecutive season. This season, he's likely going to play tailback on an exclusive basis as he attempts to help Sallisaw take the next step and become bona-fide 4A title contenders.
