Austin (Texas) Anderson enjoyed a fruitful regular season.

The Trojans definitely aren't ready for their season to end after the opening weekend of the University Interscholastic League state football playoffs. They now get set for the proverbial second season as Anderson faces Friendswood in the bi-district round of the 5A Division I playoffs, taking place Saturday afternoon at Austin's House Park Stadium.

Going into Saturday's playoff opener, Anderson comes in at 9-1, though the Trojans' only defeat came in last week's regular season finale, 28-7, to Pflugerville Weiss. That cost Anderson the outright District 12-5A DI title, as the Trojans ended up sharing the district championship with College Station A&M Consolidated.

As for Friendswood, the Mustangs began the season 2-4 before reeling off four straight games to cap the regular season. They clinched fourth place in District 11-5A DI after a 48-6 win against Fort Bend Kempner last week.

The winner of the Anderson-Friendswood game will take on Barbers Hill, a winner against Houston Waltrip in its bi-district playoff Friday, in next week's area round.

FIRST QUARTER

- Friendswood reaches into Anderson territory, but the Trojans come up strong on defense and the Mustangs have to punt late in the opening period.

- An Anderson TD was called back due to a penalty. Trojans eventually forced to punt, and Friendswood gets a nice return and the Mustangs are near midfield.

- Anderson holds on defense inside its own 25 as Friendswood throws an incomplete pass on fourth-and-long.
