Every week, someone on the high school football field does something that makes you stand up and take notice. It could be a 300-yard passing performance, or a 200-yard rushing performance or maybe just a game-winning score.

No matter the feat, it is worth being recognized. And that is what we want to do here.
In no way are these all of the best performances from players in Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota and Nebraska, but we have tried to gather the best that we could and place them for your votes here.

Here are the candidates for top Midwest high school football player of the week for Sept. 8-13:
Vote: Who should be the top Midwest football player of the week (Sept. 8-13)?
Wyatt Griffin, Chase County (Kansas): Griffin went crazy in a 70-50 win over Kiowa County, accounting for 10 touchdowns. He ran for 335 yards with seven of those scores, adding another 225 yards in the air with the other three touchdowns.
Nolan Kriegel, Iowa Valley (Iowa): Kriegel had 10 total touchdowns, rushing for nine with a kickoff return for another score as he ran for 353 yards on 36 attempts.
Jett Thomalla, Millard South (Nebraska): The Alabama commit threw for 291 yards and six touchdowns as his team rolled Kearney, 72-0. Thomalla completed 14 of 17 on the night.
Henry Wiste, Southland (Minnesota): Wiste completed 16 of 19 for 350 yards and four touchdowns, adding 50 more yards and a fifth TD on the ground in a 56-20 victory.
Gage Honn, Athens (Illinois): The senior was the focal point of the Athens offense in a 33-19 victory, carrying the ball 43 times for 260 yards and three touchdowns.
Sam Benson, South Hardin (Iowa): Benson bothered the opposing secondary, hauling in four passes for 178 yards with three of those receptions finding him in the end zone.
Evan Greenfield, Norris (Nebraska): Not only did Greenfield recorded four touchdowns, including three in the air, he showed off his kicking skills by making all nine extra-point attempts in a 63-0 victory.
Carson Heimer, Byron (Minnesota): Heimer shouldered the load, rushing 22 times while racking up 288 yards with two trips to the end zone in a convincing 42-6 triumph.
Landon Blum, Woodbine (Iowa): One of the top prospects in the state, Blum exploded for 156 yards receiving on six receptions with half of those going for touchdowns.
Rylan Reumolds, Rushville-Industry (Illinois): Reumolds recorded his second consecutive game with at least 200 yards on the ground, finishing with 224 and three touchdowns in an overtime victory.
